Vietnam reports 485 new cases of COVID-19-

Vietnam registered 485 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, down 73 from Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Health.

The new infections brought the total count to 11,515,908. The Southeast Asian country reported three new deaths from the pandemic in the capital Hanoi and the southern provinces of Tay Ninh and An Giang, bringing the total death toll to 43,175.

As of Wednesday, 68 severe cases needed assisted breathing across the country and 10,608,488 COVID-19 patients, or more than 92 percent of all infections, have recovered, according to the ministry.

More than 264.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country, including nearly 222.9 million injections in people aged 18 and over, the ministry said.

Vietnam has already registered COVID-19 infections with the Omicron BA.4, BA.5, BA.2.12.1 and BA.2.74 subvariants, and is accelerating the inoculation of its population with a fourth dose of vaccine. ■
