Valeria Márquez, TikTok Star, Shot Dead Live for Fans Inside Beauty Salon

Zapopan, Jalisco— On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Valeria Márquez, a vibrant 23-year-old TikTok influencer, was shot and killed during a live broadcast from her beauty salon, Blossom The Beauty Lounge. The attack occurred around 6:30 PM, shocking followers who were watching her stream when a gunman entered and fired multiple shots.

According to state officials, the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the incident as a possible feminicide. Initial reports indicate that Márquez was providing beauty tips to her audience when the assailant, believed to be a delivery person who had visited earlier, returned and opened fire.

Witnesses recounted the chaos within the salon as patrons scrambled for safety. Emergency services confirmed Márquez was pronounced dead at the scene upon arrival. A video circulating on social media captures the last moments of her life, showing her collapsing after the onslaught of gunfire.

Just prior to the attack, Márquez had expressed concerns about her safety in a separate livestream, even mentioning that she felt she would be harmed but stayed on for the promise of an expensive gift from a follower.

The local authorities stated, “Investigation is underway under the feminicide protocol, aiming to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death of this young influencer.” Her body has been transferred to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy while officials await formal identification by family members.

Valeria, who had over 90,000 followers on TikTok, was not just an online personality; she was also a business owner, running a popular beauty salon that attracted many young women interested in makeup and empowerment discussions. In 2021, she won the title of Miss Rostro, increasing her visibility in the digital space.

The Jalisco State officials further noted that from January to March 2025, there have been 162 feminicides reported nationwide, with Jalisco ranking as the third highest, recording eight cases.

Public reaction flooded social media as followers and fellow influencers mourned her loss, demanding justice and highlighting the ongoing issue of gender-based violence in Mexico. “Ten women are murdered every day in this country, and it’s time we take action,” resonated as a common sentiment among many.

The violent incident has sparked broader discussions on gender violence in Mexico, where a growing number of women have begun speaking up against such acts. The impact of Valeria’s death transcends beyond her follower base, igniting a much-needed dialogue regarding women’s safety and rights.
