Valencia Go All Out to Stop Getafe from Falling Deeper for La Liga Clash

VALENCIA, Spain — Valencia will face Getafe in a crucial La Liga clash on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Estadio de Mestalla. With both teams in dire need of points, this matchup is essential for their respective campaigns.

Valencia, currently sitting in 12th place, has experienced a resurgence, climbing out of the relegation zone thanks to a nine-match unbeaten streak, winning eight of their last 17 games under their new manager. Their latest victory came against Las Palmas, where they won 3-2, solidifying their ambition of breaking into the top half of the table. They trail 10th place by just two points and aim for a potential European qualification.

“We have to keep the momentum going and show the same spirit as in previous matches,” said Valencia coach Carlos Corberan. If Valencia secures another win, they could move closer to competing for a European spot.

In contrast, Getafe enters this match struggling in 13th place, having lost their last four games. They initially made a decent showing in 2025, but a string of defeats has seen them slip into the lower half of the table. Their performance has seen a downturn particularly noted in their recent loss to Rayo Vallecano.

“We need to snap out of this rut and return to winning ways. We cannot afford to go lower,” remarked Getafe’s manager. Their current objective is to escape the losing streak and regain their form.

In team news, Valencia is likely to remain unchanged from the team that triumphed last weekend, although they will monitor a couple of injuries closely. Getafe, however, will face challenges, with some key players missing due to suspensions and injuries. Their attacker Arambarri remains suspended, putting additional pressure on their remaining forwards.

For Valencia, the expected starting lineup includes Mamardashvili, Foulquier, Tarrega, Mosquera, and Gaya, while Getafe looks likely to field Soria, Nyom, Alderete, and others in a 4-4-2 formation.

Historically, Valencia has dominated this fixture with 20 wins or draws over their previous 29 encounters with Getafe, instilling confidence in the home side as they prepare for the match.

“Playing at home gives us the edge, and we intend to use that in our favor,” added Corberan. The stage is set for an intense battle as both clubs aim to achieve their contrasting goals ahead of the season’s conclusion.
