Use the Eid-al-Kabir season to pray for national healing – Onochie

By Emmanuel Mogbede As Nigerians join the Muslim world in celebrating Eid al-Kabir, a political pillar, Dr The Nnamdi Onochie told Nigerians to use the season to pray for national healing and forgiveness.

Onochie made the appeal in a message to Nigerians, posted in Abuja on Monday, to mark the Eid celebrations.

“I wish to implore our citizens to take this opportunity to pray for healing as we learn lessons of total obedience to the will of Almighty Allah, as seen in the life of Prophet Ibrahim.

He noted that being steadfast was the magic wand Nigerians needed to overcome various challenges, including school kidnappings, insurgency, secessionist threats and the coronavirus pandemic.

“I urge my compatriots to stand firm in our trust in God, knowing that all these problems affecting the country will soon be resolved with the arrival of a new exemption in 2023,” he said.

The former Nigerian envoy to Algeria and the Philippines called on political and religious leaders to learn lessons from Eid-al-Kabir in the performance of their duties.

He said reliance on the will of Allah by the Nigerian rulers was the only way out of the country from current economic hardships, insecurity and various evils.

Onochie pleaded with Nigerians to use Eid to strengthen their love for one another by showing care, especially towards the less privileged, the sick, the bereaved, the elderly as well as the victims of various challenges in the country.

“I also want to take this opportunity to call on our leaders to take this opportunity to show their love to those in need, especially those in various refugee camps across the country.

“My heart also goes out to those who have been orphaned due to community crises and other situations of unjustified insecurity in the country.

He said the prevailing situations in the country called on Nigerians to be guardians of each other, united by love and peace in every corner of the country. (NOPE)
