Accra, Ghana – E be like say our paddy dem for America don finally listen to we Ghanaians! Dem don lift visa restrictions wey dey hound us since July 2025. Chai, this news sweet like sugar! Ghanaians fit now enjoy five-year multiple-entry visa, just like say dem don win lottery.

The gist na say, U.S. Embassy for Accra don announce this good belle news wey dey make we all dey dance. Dem say, “The maximum validity periods for all categories of nonimmigrant visas for Ghanaians don restore to dem original levels.” Wetin dem talk? Five years for B1/B2 visa, and four years for F1 student visa. Na wah, dem even add multiple entry to the mix. E be like say we go fit travel and chop jollof for America anytime we wan!

Samuel Ablakwa, Ghana’s Foreign Minister, nah correct guy o! He don already share this palava for X (formerly Twitter), praise God for months of diplomatic negotiations wey put light for our visa matter. He talk say, he hear am from U.S. Under Secretary of State, Allison Hooker, during UN General Assembly meeting. If no be these big men and their talks, we for still dey manage single-entry visa like say na punishment.

But wait, wetin bring all this wahala come? Back in July 2025, dem yank Ghana’s visa privileges because of visa overstays, especially among students. E be likey say dem dey find way to balance the game for everybody. Gist get as e be, two months after dem introduce restrictions, Ghana receive 14 deportees from Nigeria and other West African countries. E be like say, tings don finally turn around for our favor!

Even President John Mahama don take am discuss as him reason the ECOWAS protocol wey dey allow our West African brothers and sisters to waka enter Ghana without wahala. He talk say na one agreement wey dem both agree say West African nationals no need visa to come Ghana. Omo, no be small thing o!

Now, the restoration don make plenty sense, especially for students wey dey plan to go study long-term for U.S. And e no go sweet small for business travelers and families wey go just dey shine their eye for consular wahala. This one solid as wahala wey don dey buried. Thank God for diplomacy, if na no be dem, we for dey carry dey worry pass.
