He said that promoting gastronomy in Africa would strengthen the culinary identity and local products.
Carvao said that it was necessary to promote competitiveness in the value chain, innovation and management of the sector to boost gastronomy tourism in Africa.
He said it was also essential to improve the scenery, atmosphere and hospitality for food tourists.
“Africans need to encourage the creation and development of products and experiences associated with the indigenous potential of the destination.
“They must be innovative, differential and varied to attract the gastronomic tourist and help position the territory as a gastronomic destination.
“It is also necessary for those in the sector to define and adopt a plan to promote and support the marketing of gastronomic tourism with the participation of all agents,” he said.
Carvao said it was also important to maximize the power of technology as a key driver for the development of gastronomy tourism.
