The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Kano Field Office Staff on Friday donated food and other essential items to the Nasarawa Children’s home in Kano.
Presenting the items to the management of the home, the Chairperson of the association, Saka Adebayo said the gesture was in commemoration of the World Children’s Day (WCD).
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the event is celebrated on Nov. 20, every year.
Adebayo said UNICEF, as an organisation, supports and promotes the rights of children.
He said the Kano field Office, tasked themselves for the purpose of the donation.
He commended his colleagues for the contributions, and the home for accepting the gesture.
Responding, Hajiya Aisha Sani who is in charge of the home, thanked the association for the gesture.
She assured that the items would be used for the purpose it was given.
Some of the items donated included: rice, beans, vegetables, detergents, juice and sanitary items.
