Dubai, UAE – Na so we dey enjoy as UAE don officially announce say dem go get four days public holiday for Eid Al Adha 2025! This one go begin from Thursday, June 5, with Arafat Day, and e go continue till Sunday, June 8. Just imagine wetin go happen for Naija if dem carry such holiday gist!
As we dey talk now, Arafat Day, wey sabi be the day wey Muslims go dey fast and reflect, go land on June 5. Followed closely, Eid Al Adha, wey mean ‘Festival of Sacrifice,’ go dey happen from June 6 to June 8. Na four days we go fit enjoy with family, travel or just dey chill like kings and queens!
But hold on! No be say dem go give extra day if the holiday land on weekend o! The UAE Labour Law no say anything about compensatory days when public holiday coincides with weekend. Abi na this one dem dey use take catch we for corner? Imran Khan, wey be legal consultant for Dubai, don talk am say employers no dey legally required to give another day off when holiday fall on Saturday and Sunday o. Na wah!
Priyasha Corrie, one partner for Keystone Law Middle East, still clarify am wey say under Article 29 of the new Labour Law, employees dey entitled to 30 days annual leave. If public holiday land for dia annual leave days, e go reduce their leave time. So if you think you go collect extra day, better fashi that dream make e no catch you!
But in case you dey work during Eid holiday, no worry! Your employer gatz respect you. If you work for that period, dem supposed to compensate you with another holiday or pay you extra cash – at least 50% plus your normal salary. Dem dey try make everyone dey alright, small small!
