Two dead, 24 injured in suicide bombing in southwestern Pakistan
– A suicide bomber hit a police truck on Wednesday in Quetta, the provincial capital of Pakistan‘s southwestern Balochistan province, killing two people and wounding 24 others, a police official said.

Quetta Police Deputy Inspector General Ghulam Azfar Mahesar said a suicide bomber blew up his explosives-laden rickshaw near a Balochistan police truck in the Baleli area of Quetta.

The impact of the blast toppled the vehicle and pushed it into a ditch alongside the road, leaving one policeman dead and 20 others injured, the official said, adding that the blast also struck two other civilian vehicles and killed one civilian and injured four others.

Police, security forces and rescue teams rushed to the scene and transferred the bodies and injured to a nearby hospital.
According to the police officer, the police forces were going to provide security for the polio vaccination teams when they were attacked.
The official added that the initial investigation found that around 25 kg of explosives were used in the explosion.
Police and security forces have cordoned off the area and have launched a search operation in the area.
