Tributes have flooded in for actor Lance Reddick who was found dead at his home aged 60. The body of the actor, known for his iconic role on The Wire and later starring in the John Wick franchise, was discovered at his home in Studio City, California on Friday.

The Last Few Days

The Baltimore native was seemingly in good spirits taking a selfie video with his dogs howling at his apartment instead of attending the John Wick 4 premiere on Wednesday. No reason was given for his absence from the glitzy bash. Reddick who was in the middle of a publicity tour for John Wick: Chapter 4 is said to have had a guest appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show booked in next week.

Tributes to the Late Actor

Tributes flooded social media for the actor perhaps best known for his role as Lt. Cedric Daniels on the hit HBO show The Wire. Director James Gunn said: “Lance Reddick was an incredibly nice guy, and an incredibly talented actor. This is heartbreaking. My love goes out to all his family, friends, and collaborators.” Comedian Ben Stiller added: “Lance Reddick was a beautiful and compelling actor. And a beautiful person. He worked with my mom Anne Meara in her play “Afterplay”, playing Raziel, the waiter slash angel of death. He was exquisite in that and all he did. Nothing is lost.” Musician and film director Questlove tweeted: “I can’t take it no more. RIP Lance Reddick.”

Reddick’s first major TV role came on Season 4 of HBO’s prison drama Oz in 2000. His last role came as Charon, the gun-toting concierge helping Keanu Reeves’ character at the Continental Hotel in the John Wick franchise.

Reddick is survived by his wife, Stephanie Reddick, and children, Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick. Donations in his memory can be made to in Baltimore, his hometown.
