On September 16, 2025, fire burst inside Afriland Towers for Broad Street, Lagos Island, and e no be small thing. As we dey yarn, six additional deaths don confirm, bringing the total to ten. Chai! Wetin go happen next?
Victims wey dem confirm na workers from United Capital, wey dey operate for the 3rd and 4th floors of the building. Dem no fit escape as the inferno engulf their office like say na hot suya wey dem dey cook. E no funny as dem dey mourn their loss. United Capital for their statement talk say, “It is with profound grief that we announce the passing of six of our dear colleagues.” You fit feel the pain for their words o, especially as dem prepare for memorial service to honor the departed.
Earlier reports show say, Four staff members of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) also die for this same fire. Na dem dey work for sixth and seventh floors when the koko happen. Names like Mrs. Ekelikhostse George, Mr. David Sunday-Jatto, Mrs. Nkem Onyemelukwe, and Mr. Peter Ifaranmaye don enter our memory, no matter how hard this one be.
