Tory Lanez Stabbed 14 Times Inside Prison, Now dey recover

BAKERSFIELD, California (AP) — Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper also known as Daystar Peterson, was stabbed 14 times early Monday morning while in the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, where he is serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion. The attack happened around 7:20 a.m., and Lanez was rushed to a nearby hospital after suffering serious injuries.

A post on Lanez’s official Instagram account revealed the severity of his condition, stating he had sustained seven wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to the left side of his face. Both of his lungs collapsed due to the attack, but he is currently recovering and is reportedly talking and in good spirits. “He is deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through,” the post added.

Authorities confirmed that the alleged attacker, identified as 41-year-old Santino Casio, has been placed in restricted housing while an investigation into the incident is conducted. Casio is serving a life sentence for multiple convictions, including second-degree murder, and has a history of violent offenses in prison.

Details surrounding the motive behind the stabbing are still unclear, with the correctional facility’s Investigative Services Unit, along with the Kern County district attorney’s office, probing the incident.

Lanez’s legal troubles began in July 2020 when he shot Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, in both feet following an argument after a party in Los Angeles. Despite pleading not guilty, he was found guilty in December 2022 on multiple felony charges including assault with a semi-automatic firearm and illegal possession of a firearm.

Megan Thee Stallion has publicly shared the emotional toll the incident has taken on her, emphasizing the ongoing trauma she has faced since the attack. In comments made during the trial, she stated, “I can’t hold conversations with people for a long time. I feel like I don’t want to be on this earth,” showcasing the psychological impact of the violence she endured.

Since being incarcerated, Lanez has continued to face legal actions from Stallion, including allegations of harassment through third parties. In December 2024, Stallion’s legal team filed a petition claiming Lanez was still subjecting her to emotional distress from behind bars, prompting a judge to extend the restraining order against him until 2030.

Lanez’s attorney denied any direct contact between the two. The rapper’s team insists his incarceration means there is no threat to Stallion. However, media scrutiny around the case persists, with both Lanez and Stallion’s fanbases fiercely divided on the narrative of events.

As the investigation into this latest incident unfolds, Lanez remains hospitalized but is reportedly improving. The prison continues to monitor the situation closely.
