Dare to remember Tanzania? E don turn survival of the fittest as protests dey burst since Wednesday after dem conduct the general elections. According to Chadema, the main opposition party, e be like 700 people don kasala (die) in clashes wey security forces dey manage. Na wah!
The protests dey shake major cities like Dar es Salaam; you fit hear the people dey shout say dem vote no follow fair play. Na so dem block major candidates like Tundu Lissu from contesting for President Samia Suluhu Hassan position, and that one no play well for people wey dey vex.
Internet no dey work since Wednesday, so e hard to confirm all these death reports. The UN said at least 10 people don die, but other sources sabi talk say the number fit reach hundreds. The government, on the other hand, dey carry face like say dem no see wetin dey happen, saying dem no get any official count of casualties (who dem dey form for?).
According to Foreign Minister Mahmoud Kombo Thabit, many of the reports na just “pockets of incidents.” But people dey fear for their lives like say night don come, and eyewitnesses dey talk of gunshots and tear gas everywhere. Hospitals dey refuse to give out figures, e be like dem dey keep their mouth sealed!
The military don join the gist as the protests continue dey swell Friday for places like Dar es Salaam and even small places like Mwanza. Dem dey tell the youth say make dem chill, but protesters dey dey vex say dem go continue until dem get their electoral reforms. Talk about bad governance, eh!
John Kitoka, one of Chadema’s mouthpiece, talk say dem don see plenty bodies scattered around hospitals, say dem count 700 plus. And since the government don impose curfew, many dey fear say more killings fit happen under the cover of night (ghostbusters no fit come out for this one!).
International community don begin to raise eyebrow over the killings. UN dey call for proper investigations on top the excessive force wey security forces dey use on protesters. People dey catch fear life, as conversation dey roll say the government need to stop the brutish behavior.
As e be now, President Samia dey expected to win under her ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). But with unrest hovering like dark cloud, the future indeed dey hang for balance. Meanwhile, sports and entertainment go sabi dey shine bright while people dey suffer; na the usual Naija way of life. Hope say as you read this, you fit remember say democracy no be free hustle for everybody.
Let’s hope say this wahala fit end soon before dem turn Nigeria’s 2023 election sufferings to Tanzania. But we warn say make una no use our palm wine dey celebrate, as the matter dey serious! If e no concern you, e fit concern your padi tomorrow, so make we shine our eye and follow the gists!
