    The President welcomed Sheikh Majid Al Mualla on his official visit to Seychelles and expressed his hope that he will serve to pave new paths, develop new partnerships and strengthen cooperation in the field of aviation and tourism.

    “Thank you for your service to Seychelles over the years, Emirates has been one of our number one loyal partners and we look forward to enhancing relations,” said Chairman Ramkalawan.

    During their discussion, the President and Sheikh Majid Al Mualla exchanged views on various ideas on the way forward and proposals to improve relations.

    Speaking to the local press after his courtesy visit to the president, Sheikh Majid Al Mualla expressed his gratitude to the government for its continued support.

    “Seychelles is one of the first destinations to reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic, we appreciate the very good support we received.

    We are committed to this market, we have been in Seychelles for 20 years, with double daily flights and we look forward to expanding and increasing our partnership and operation”, he said.

Bar Food Preparation and Culinary Arts Lodging Operations and Services Tourism and Tour Guides Front Desk Operations and Services Wellness and Spa as well as Hotel Management Ketsina William who took the Advanced Certificate in Food Preparation and Culinary Arts course won the President s Cup for Most Outstanding Student The Director of the Seychelles Tourism Academy Mr Terence Max congratulated the graduates Dear graduates the Seychelles Tourism Academy Along with all of your partners and stakeholders they have played their part in developing the skills and knowledge that will enable you to further your aspirations to become the quality talent the industry demands In addition to technical and managerial skills the Seychelles Tourism Academy strives to instill in its students positive     The president attends the annual graduation ceremony of STA

    President Wavel Ramkalawan was the guest of honor at the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) annual graduation ceremony held at the University of Seychelles (UniSey) Auditorium, Anse Royale, yesterday afternoon.

    Graduates who attended the morning session due to space restrictions joined the others in the afternoon.

    Two hundred graduates who have successfully completed their studies in Restaurant and Bar, Food Preparation and Culinary Arts, Lodging Operations and Services, Tourism and Tour Guides, Front Desk Operations and Services, Wellness and Spa, as well as Hotel Management.

    Ketsina William, who took the Advanced Certificate in Food Preparation and Culinary Arts course, won the President's Cup for Most Outstanding Student.

    The Director of the Seychelles Tourism Academy, Mr. Terence Max congratulated the graduates “Dear graduates, the Seychelles Tourism Academy; Along with all of your partners and stakeholders, they have played their part in developing the skills and knowledge that will enable you to further your aspirations to become the quality talent the industry demands.

    Seychelles: Appointment of ad-hoc appellate judges

    Following the recommendations of the Court of Appeal for the appointment of three special judges of appeal to hear the case of EEEL against Vijay Construction Pty Ltd, the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan, received the recommendations of the Appointments Authority Constitutional Courts (CAA) and has accordingly appointed Judge Winston Anderson as chairman of the panel and two other members, Judge Carl Singh and Judge William Young, to hear the case and make a final determination.

    Justice Winston Anderson (Chairman of the ad-hoc appellate panel of judges) is a judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice ("CCJ"), which is the highest court on civil, constitutional and criminal appeals for four sovereign states: Barbados, Belize, Dominica and Guiana.

    He has been a CCJ Judge for twelve (12) years and is now the third longest serving Judge on the Court.

    Justice William Young has served on the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of New Zealand.

    Sir William is an Honorary Fellow of the Middle Temple and an Honorary Fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.

    He has an honorary doctorate in law from the University of Canterbury.

    Justice Carl Singh has served in the Supreme Court of Guyana, followed by Chief Justice of Guyana, and later in the Office of the Chancellor and Chief of the Guyana Judiciary.

    He was also Professor and Head of the Department of Law at the University of Guyana.

  •   President Wavel Ramkalawan received the President of the Seychelles Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Intersex LGBTI Association Mr Naddy Vidot at Government House yesterday morning LGBTI Seychelles is a non governmental organization that advocates for sexual orientation and gender identity rights Mr Vidot was joined by members of the Seychelles LGBTI Board which included Vice President Emily Gonthier Secretary Sasha Alis Treasurer Sanjoe Denousse and Ordinary Members Sylvie Ah Time and Sumita Joubert The President welcomed them in this first courtesy visit to the Government House to present the association He appreciated the opportunity to inform him about the work of his association its goals and plans for the future We should live in a society where anyone is free to live their life however they want regardless of their gender or orientation As long as we respect each other and are tolerant of each other s views said President Ramkalawan During the meeting with the Head of State Mr Vidot and his members had the opportunity to brief him on the work of the Association its strategies in relation to three main areas of focus Legal Reforms Health and Education Relevant focus points during the discussion related to national education anti bullying awareness in schools health services human rights the adoption process and other legal reforms President Ramkalawan has duly noted all the points raised for further consideration while the president also advised the association to continue discussions with all stakeholders to see the way forward Speaking to local media after the meeting the Vice President Sasha Alis expressed her gratitude for being received by the President to continue discussing issues related to the LGBTI community in Seychelles She said It is a momentous historical moment for LGBTI for us to have been able to meet with the president We had an interesting discussion on tangible issues such as national education raising awareness in schools legal issues and health and the possibility for LGBTI people in Seychelles to get equal rights and access to different facilities and services The discussion with the President was open and frank We are all satisfied with our meeting The Seychelles Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Intersex LGBTI Association was established in 2015 and officially registered in 2016

Relevant focus points during the discussion related to national education, anti-bullying awareness in schools, health services, human rights, the adoption process, and other legal reforms.
