Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), says prayer remains the best option for peace in Nigeria and ending the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast.
Adebayo made this known when he paid a curtesy visit on the Borno Deputy Governor, Usman Kadafur, at the Government House, Maiduguri, on Thursday.
Adeboye said he arrived in the state on Wednesday and led worshippers “to seek the face of God over the state of security and other challenges facing the country.
“A combination of physical and spiritual battle had become necessary to end the menace”.
Adeboye said that “spiritual” intervention was needed side by side the current anti terrorism efforts in order to defeat Boko Haram and other extremist groups threatening Nigeria’s peace and security.
“There are problems that you cannot solve with just human ability, it takes God to get some of these bandits to get to surrender.
“Because even if you offer them everything, some of them may still turn their back and go back to what they were initially doing.
“We have come to pray on the land.
My congregation and I have been praying.
I believe God wants me to step on the land and cry and pray for the land and we have been praying since Wednesday,” he said.
Adeboye explained that Maiduguri was the 16th place where his congregation held prayers.
”We went around the world.
The Church was in 196 locations globally.
“Sir, I thank the almighty God for this meeting as this is the first time in my life of visiting Maiduguri.
I have had always wanted to come long before now but somehow it has not been possible.
“My wife and I and some of our officials have come here and seen for ourselves that the governor and his wonderful government have been doing a lot under very difficult situations.
“We believe that if things had been easier this government could have done a lot more for the people.
“In our own little corner at the headquarters in Lagos, we have tried whatever little bit we could to show the government that we are particularly interested in Borno state,” Adeboye said.
Enumerating some of his church’s interventions, the RCCG leader said, “We built a little primary school, a skills acquisition and vocational training center where different trades like shoe making, sewing and other trades are being learnt.
“We also built accommodation for some of the displaced families and also contributed to the hospitals by bringing machines for kidney dialysis, but much more than that, we have been praying.
“We have been praying because before these troublemakers came, Borno was one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.
I remember in those days, anyone could go to anywhere here at anytime of the day and night.
”
Adeboye noted that the state was known for peace.
”I was particularly touched when the Boko Haram crisis erupted.
“There are problems that you cannot solve with just human ability, it takes God’s intervention.
“The welcome we got in Borno is genuine.
Please, express my love and well wishes to our beloved government,” he added.
Speaking earlier, the deputy governor acknowledged the support of Adeboye and other Christian faithful.
He also concurred with Adeboye, saying that there was need to fervently seek the intervention of God to end the 13-year-old insurgency that has ravaged the state.
“We are happy that men of God like you are visiting our state to pray so that God can forgive us and restore peace,”he said.
The deputy governor lauded the church for donating skills acquisition materials, supporting the IDPs, as well as donating a dialysis machine, adding that it would go a long way in uplifting the living standard of the people.

Sanwo-Olu, Adeboye urge Nigerians on peace
L-R: Wife of the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Worldwide, Pastor Foluke Adeboye; G.
O., Pastor Enoch Adeboye; Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and his wife, Mrs Ibijoke during a thanksgiving prayer session for StatGov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, have called on Nigerians to continuously work and pray for peace.
They made the call in Lagos on Sunday at the RCCG October thanksgiving service and special prayer for all state governors and deputy governors tagged ”Perfect Peace in the Land”.
Sanwo-Olu, while addressing the congregation, urged the people to continue to pray for the leaders and for peace to reign in Nigeria.
He said that with peace in the land, it was believed that greater things were ahead.
Sanwo-Olu said the ”Greater Lagos” agenda of his administration which had brought development of infrastructure across the state was on course and more of it would be delivered.
According to him, the thanksgiving service taking place on Sunday after the Independence Day anniversary is very important.
”I think Pastor Adeboye has said it all.
We need perfect peace in our country but for us to have that perfect peace, we also need to have peace from individuals.
”It is the citizens that make the country.
It is not just about a metaphorical country; it is the people on the ground that truly make a country.
”We need to have that perfect peace on how we live our lives, mentally, physically, financially, morally and all of it, and it is only when that happens that it can affect the country.
”Pastor Adeboye has also encouraged all of us that we need to continually pray for our leaders.
People are made up of the kind of leaders they have.
So, it is really a partnership to ensure that the citizens play their roles and leaders also play their roles,” he said.
The governor said it was another clarion call for him that it might not be perfect, adding that there was light at the end of the tunnel.
”And for us in Lagos, we are grateful because this is the most peaceful part of the country,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu said that the peace existing in Lagos would not be taken for granted, hence, the reason for coming to the Church to thank God, to also appeal and pray to Him for that peace to continue to reign.
He assured the people of the state that his administration would continue to do its best in delivering dividends of democracy and infrastructural development for Lagos to remain home to all.
”Lots of things are happening in our state; not just peace, there is infrastructural renewal every day.
”Even while disruption is going on, let us be patient with the government because the commitment to make Lagos a lot bigger for each and everyone of us is on course and we all can see it.
“For us in Lagos state is to continue to see the Greater Lagos in our lives.
It is for us to pray that the peace and the infrastructural development that is taking place in our state will continue.
”I know around you, you can see that there are some bits of disruption.
If you get to Apapa Road Junction, Yaba and Ikeja, there are bits of disruption there because of the train we are doing and the bridges we are constructing,” he said.
The governor further said that in Ikorodu, Epe and other places, there are some disruptions which was because the state government wanted some positive things to happen.
”The Greater Lagos is on course.
The Greater Lagos will not be retarded; it will not be stopped.
Don’t give up.
”I want to assure you that greater things and bigger things are ahead of us.
My prayer and my wish are that as I stand here as your governor today, Oct. 2, 2022, I will also stand here as your governor in October 2023,” Sanwo-Olu said.
In his sermon, Adeboye took a Bible passage, 1 Corinthians 7:13 to14 and prayed for perfect peace in Nigeria as well as for every home.
The general overseer, who prayed that God would heal the land and intervene in various issues affecting the country negatively, urged the people to prepare to join him very soon for fasting and prayer for the nation
He called on Nigerians to pray for their rulers and stop criticism so that God would continue to guide them aright, if they wanted peace and to be able to overcome the storm.
He also prayed that all the enemies of Nigeria would be defeated so that the people would have peace and God that controls the storms would speak peace to the nation.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), His Majesty Chapel Parish in Ahmadiyya, Lagos, has embarked on free medical checkups to improve the health of residents of the community.
The Pastor in charge of the parish, Samson Ajayi, disclosed this during a medical outreach for community members in Abule Egba area of Lagos State on Saturday.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that among tests carried out at the outreach included free Blood Pressure check; Blood Sugar, medical and spiritual counseling, among others.
“We intend to sustain this medical outreach and trust God to put resources in our hands and even take them outside the church premises.
“The number of people that came for the programme is beyond the number I was thinking about; we never envisaged that we will have that number of people.
“This will also be an avenue to feed the people in our community; what we are doing as RCCG is just to fulfill the mandate of God as it was laid down by the General Overseer, Pastor Adeboye, “ he said.
The pastor said that the challenges surrounding the general health of the populace prompted the Church to organise the free medical check-up for the community.
According to him, many Nigerians are suffering from ailments that they are ignorant of, including hypertension, diabetes, among others.
“We realise that many people, while working or walking, collapse and die, while some go to bed and do not wake up.
“The leadership of this mission, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, feels that it is imperative to contribute to our immediate community and that is what prompted the medical outreach.
“Both Christians and Muslims came around to participate in the medical check-up and the Bible says we should love one another.
“In this programme, there is nothing like sentiment; we attend to everyone that comes around to check their medical status.
“As a Church, we believe that corporate social responsibilities are important and we should organise for the people to know their health status, “ Ajayi said.

A Senior Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Gbenga Sorunke, has admonished Nigerians particularly Christians, to always forgive as it elevates one’s status and promotes unity. Sorunke, who is in charge of the RCCG Faith and Power Arena, Jikwoyi- Abuja, highlighted factors that could hinder the faith of any Christian to include mercilessness, suspicion and hatred. According to Sorunke, ”mercilessness is a poison and it can kill easily.” He further said what the nation needed were plausible ways to move toward the path of fulfillment and ”not things that would cause backwardness.” The clergy, in his sermon: ‘Hindrance to Faith’, said the ”injuries caused by mercilessness were numerous for someone to decide to hold grudges against a fellow being. “No matter what you do, pray for, refusing to forgive hinders faith and divine blessings” On the effects of suspicion, Sorunke stated that the doubting or suspicious person won’t gain anything from God. He stressed the need for the faithful to desist from doubt, sermonising, ”God hates doubting minds. The cleric also warned against hatred, tribalism, as well as favouritism, emphasizing, ”love conquers all obstacles of life.” NewsSourceCredit: NAN
A clergyman, Pastor Glorious Abu, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will witness complete turnaround if the citizens return to God.
He said that the citizens, particularly Christians, must use their divine endowments to the expansion of God’s works, improvement of their neighbours’ lives and the economy.
Abu, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Christ the Wonderful Parish, made the remarks on Sunday in Abuja.
Quoting from several Biblical injunctions, the pastor added that Christians must serve as very worthy role models that win souls for God.
On the 2022 International Youth Day, Abu said the youth require guidance spirituality, economically and socially, as such the church, parents and government must ensure the right actions were taken to achieve this.
“We must teach them morals, we must teach them the right steps to take to ensure their generation is better of, for a sound and sane family, society and country,” he said.
According to him, the youth are not just tomorrow’s leaders but today’s leaders, as they are more vibrant, advanced in technology and have faster update of activities around them.
“Even the Bible says do not despise the days of your youth,” he added, and urged elders in the society to advise and guide the youth properly.
The pastor also advised Christians not to give up on serving and trusting God in spite of the challenges in the country.
“Let us gather and pray.
There is need to pray and maximise God’s potentials.
“Worshiping together attracts more blessings, just as iron sharperns iron.
”When you pray alone it attracts a thousand, but when two or more pray, it becomes and attracts tens of thousands,” he said.
He added that as the church pray and intercede for the nation, God will remember the country.
On the RCCG’s 70 years anniversary, Abu said it was a manifestation of God’s favour on the nation.
“We have been praying against insecurity, hunger, unemployment and other vices.
”I wish to let you know that the scriptures has fulfilled these for us and it shall come to pass that we may return to glory,” he added.
Abu backed the preaching and prophecy with reading from the Bible in the book of Jeremiah chapter 29, verses 10-12:
“When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
”Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), The Calvary Area Headquarters, Province 89, Oshodi, Lagos has organised a medical outreach for residents of the community as part of activities to mark its 25th anniversary. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the medical outreach was organised in collaboration with Chike Okoli Foundation, Emzor Pharmaceuticals and Pharmatex Industries on Saturday in Lagos. The medical outreach included free consultation, checking of blood pressure, blood sugar screening, eye tests and general check up, among others. Mr Jeffrey Aganbi, Pastor-In-Charge of the Area, said that no fewer than 600 adults and children benefited from the medical outreach. Aganbi added that free drugs were dispensed to the beneficiaries based on their health conditions, saying that scores of children were dewormed as they went home with gifts items. According to him, the outreach, which has been on for over 10 years ago, is aimed at improving the well-being of people in the area. The pastor said the water project was solely executed by church to provide a source of water supply to residents of the community and its environs noting that access to water had been a great challenge within the community. He urged the state government to intensify efforts toward making healthcare services available, affordable and accessible to people in the low income communities. “The major objective for the outreach is to bring healthcare services closer to the community at no cost at all, because access to medical care is a big challenge in Nigeria. “A lot of people with one underlying ailment or the other are dying in silence because they can’t afford the exorbitant hospital bills. “The water project is one of the church’s humanitarian gestures to mark its 25 years silver jubilee anniversary. “As access to water has been a big problem to residents of the community, the church deemed it necessary to provide them with the borehole. “And considering the economic condition of the country, if the government can make healthcare services available, affordable and accessible to masses, it will relieve a whole lots of burden on the masses,” Aganbi said. The Medical Director, MacTayo Hospital, Dr Chijindu David, urged the residents to take their health seriously and always go for medical check-up, particularly to check the Blood Pressure (BP) level. David, also a consulting doctor at the event, identified ignorance as the major contributing factor to health conditions of most Nigerian adults, as many people with high blood pressure were not even aware that they had the condition. According to him, high blood pressure is the leading cause of death among adults. David said that regular check up can help to avert some critical conditions of blood pressure that may lead to death. He recommended that every family should have the blood pressure testing apparatus, to enable the elders in the family keep a regular check of their BP. “Every family is supposed to have the BP testing apparatus to enable them maintain a regular check of their BP status. “This is because high blood pressure as a silent killer is the leading cause of death now. “And almost 90 per cent of the patients consulted here today are hypertensive, which a majority of them are not even aware that they have the condition because they don’t check,” David said. Ms Obiageli Adimachukwu, the Programme Coordinator, Chike Okoli Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, identified stress as a major factor causing the conditions of most Nigerians. According to her, the economic condition and hardships in the country are taking a toll on the residents, saying that the people are stressed out. She advised that people should constantly check their sugar level, cholesterol level, eat healthy diet, have rest and exercise to avert conditions that might trigger high BP. A representative of Emzor, Esther Ayo, said that the outreach was one the ways the company makes healthcare services accessible to people in the community, who might not afford hospital bills. Ayo expressed the commitment of the company to continually collaborate with the RCCG to ensure that members of the church and residents of the area have access to healthcare services at no cost. An elder in the church, Mr Godwin Ohadugha, lauded the church for the outreach, saying it was one of the numerous humanitarian gestures of the church to the community. Ohadugha said that the church had organised a series of empowerment programmmes and seminars for the youths of the community and members of the church. “Apart from the outreach, the church is so concerned about the welfare of the members; the church takes care of our children. “Sometimes, the church sponsors of the children to learn some skills such as barbing, tailoring, hair dressing and other apprenticeship programmes. “Before now, access to water was a big challenge, but by tomorrow a borehole water will be inaugurated for use by the residents, and the project is courtesy of the church,” he said. A beneficiary of the outreach, Mr Bertram Oparaocha, appreciated the church for organising the outreach that provided an opportunity for many indigent citizens to access healthcare. Oparaocha said that free drugs were given to him, having received many other free medical services at no cost. He was optimistic that the gesture would attract more members and recognition for the church going forward. Another beneficiary, Mrs Onyinyechi Chijindu, described the outreach as an “eye opener’ that lead to the revealing of her health condition. Onyinyechi, said she never knew that she was hypertensive until she consulted with the doctor at the outreach. NewsSourceCredit: NAN
