    Shiisu gave the names of the deceased as  Oneyaniwura Kasagama, 50, Lafiya Bulama, 40, Badejaka Kasagama, 40, Gimto Kasagama, 40 and Mai Madu Bulama, the seven-month old baby.

    The PPRO said the victims were all residents of Adiyani village, adding that investigation into the case had commenced.

    Police arrest 37-year-old man for alleged murder of parents in Jigawa

    The Police in Jigawa have arrested a 37-year-old man for alleged murder of his parents in Gagarawa Local Government Area of the state.

    The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Jigawa Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed this in a statement in Dutse on Thursday.

    Shiisu said the suspect was arrested after he allegedly attacked his father, mother and two others with a wooden pestle.

    Those attacked by the suspect are, Ahmad Muhammad, 70, Hauwau Ahamadu, 60, Kailu Badugu, 65 and Hakalima Amadu, 60. The PPRO said that a team of policemen evacuated the victims to Gumel General Hospital, where Ahmadu Muhammad and Hauwau Ahmadu were certified dead by a medical doctor due to the injuries they sustained in the attack.

    Shiisu said the other two victims were on admission at the hospital for treatment.

    “Today, at 11:30 a.

    m., information received had it that one Munkaila Ahmadu of Zarada-Sabuwa village in Gagarawa LGA of Jigawa, used a wooden pestle and attacked the following persons: “Ahmadu Muhammad, the village Head of Zarada-Sabuwa, Hauwa Ahmadu, Kailu Badugu and Hakalima Amadu, all of Zarada -Sabuwa village in Gagarawa LGA.

    ” He added that preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased were the biological parents of the suspect.

    The Commissioner of Police in the state, Aliyu Tafida, directed for discreet investigation into the case, after which the suspect would be charged to court.

    The Police Command in Bauchi State says it has neutralised two suspected kidnappers and rescued three victims in Toro Local Government Area of the state.

    The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the development to journalists in Bauchi on Thursday.

    He said the command also arrested 22 suspected thugs, recovered arms and narcotic substances in various raids across the state in the month of August.

    The spokesman said suspected kidnappers on Aug. 26, blocked Tulu-Rishi road in Toro LGA, abducted Alhaji Alhassan Gambo of Anguwan Bawa in Kaduna State, and shot one Alhaji Mujitafa Usman of Funtua LGA in Katsina State.

    He said that Usman was on a business trip in the area.

    “On Aug. 28, following credible intelligence to Tulu Divisional Police headquarters on activities of suspected kidnappers.

    A combined team of policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer, Tulu Division and the members of vigilante, embarked on combing their enclave.

    “On Aug. 29, suspected kidnappers intercepted at Doka Auwalu Mountain in Tama Ward of Toro LGA, engaged the police in gun duel.

    “Following hot exchange of firepower, the operatives neutralised two of the suspects on the spot, while others scampered in disarray with gunshot wounds into the nearby forest.

    “Unfortunately, a member of the vigilante paid the supreme price, the operatives successfully rescued the victims unhurt and subsequently reunited with their families after medical examination,” he said.

    Wakil further said that on Aug. 30, suspected hoodlums armed with knives and sticks attacked members of peace and security committee at Bakin Kura area of Bauchi metropolis.

    The suspects, he said, inflicted injuries on one Danladi Suleiman, 32, and Yakubu Ibrahim, 42. “On receiving the information, a team of detectives led by the Commander Rapid Response Squad (RRS) swiftly swung into action and arrested 22 male suspects,” he said.

    The spokesman said the police recovered four knives, two cutlasses, two sticks, one sharp horn, Cannabis sativa, and 221 diazepam tablets.

    He said that investigation into the incident was ongoing, adding the suspects would soon be charged to court.

    Wakil quoted the Commissioner of Police, Umar Sanda as commanding the operatives and commiserated with the family of the member of the vigilante who paid the supreme price.

    The Commissioner charged tactical commanders to sustain the tempo to rid the state of criminal activities.

    Nnamdi Omoni.

    The command’s spokesperon, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria [ NAN] on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.

    Iringe-Koko said that Omoni died in his home in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

    She, however, did not state the cause of the death of the former spokesman of the command.

    Omoni, a lawyer, was the Divisional Police Officer for Elimgbu, Obiakpor Local Government Area of Rivers, before his death.

    The deceased who celebrated his birthday last Friday hailed from Rundele in Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

    “However, the following morning, none of them came out of the room where they slept.

    Ndukwe noted that eight others had been responding to treatment.

    m., operatives stormed the area, where one of the kidnappers aged 40, of Gurgunna village, Babura LGA, Jigawa was arrested.

    He added the victim’s cellphone, which was used for ransom negotiation was recovered in his possession.

    “Furthermore, a 30-year-old man of Nisan Marke village was also arrested at about 12:30 a.

    m.,” he said.

    Shiisu stated that during interrogation, both suspects confessed to have abducted the victim, in collaboration with eight other gang members, now at large.

    According to him, efforts to trace the other eight suspects were being intensified.

    Shiisu said the suspects had been handed over to the  team of anti-Kidnapping section, Kano State Police Command, for discreet investigation.

    He said the Commissioner of Police in state, Mr Aliyu Tafida, who appreciated the efforts of the officers, urged the public to always avail police with credible and reliable information about suspicious persons in their localities for prompt action.

    “Investigation is ongoing to establish the extent of their criminality.

    Suspects would be arraigned after the conclusion of investigation,” he said.
