    The Central Region Assembly held its 20th ordinary meeting on February 25 at the Asmara City Hall under the theme "Let's Strengthen Our Comprehensive Resilience".

    In the meeting attended by the heads of the regional administration, PFDJ, national associations, line ministries and sub-area administrators, the president of the Regional Assembly, Mr. Abraham Semere, said that the assembly has been making a great effort to implement the recommendations and resolutions adopted at the XIX Ordinary Meeting of the Regional Assembly, and called on the assembly members to strengthen their participation in national affairs.

    Mr. Abraham also called on the public to strengthen participation in water and soil conservation activities, road renovation, micro-dams, as well as agricultural activities with a view to boosting agricultural production and ensuring food security.

    According to the reports presented at the meeting, a commendable effort has been made to improve the supply of vegetables and fruits to the markets, as well as drinking water for the public.

    The members of the Assembly held an extensive discussion on the reports presented and adopted several recommendations, including the proper follow-up of the implementation of the guidelines to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the revision of the cost of fuel, the electricity and telephone.

    Speaking on the occasion, the Governor of the Central Region, Mr. Fesehaye Haile, expressed the readiness of the regional administration to accompany the regional assembly in all its efforts.
