The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the leaders of the group within the Lagos APC, which held parallel party congresses in 2021, formally defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in January.

2023: Lagos4Lagos leader, Adediran, best bet for PDP—Pearse

Dr Adetokunbo Pearse, a PDP Senatorial aspirant for Lagos Central District, says Lagos4Lagos Lead Visioner, Dr Olajide Adediran remains the best candidate for the party to win the 2023 governorship election in Lagos State.

Pearse, the Convener, Reset Lagos PDP gave this position when he led his group to endorse the governorship ambition of Adediran, popularly known as Jandor on Thursday at Liberty House, Ikeja.

According to him, the endorsement is not to derail the campaign of the other aspirants nor to cast aspersions on their aspiration.

“I will like to state without equivocation that in my studied opinion; of all the qualified stalwarts of our party running for governor at this time, Adediran is the most qualified for which reason I am supporting him.

“I am hereby appealing to all party delegates to join me in endorsing him,” Pearse said.

Highlighting the reasons why Adediran should be elected as the PDP candidate for the 2023 governorship election Pearse  said the aspirant had financial and political sagacity as well as followership to win the state for PDP.

“The defection of Jandor and his Lagos4Lagos group from APC to the PDP has brought many new members to the PDP fold.

“The movement has also encouraged others now in the ruling party in Lagos to consider defecting  to our great party. This process is ongoing.

“Come the general election, we envisage thousands of registered APC members voting in solidarity with the Lagos4Lagos for PDP,” he said.

According to him, with this development, PDP will accumulate enough numbers to win not only the governorship but all other races.

He added: “If we are to keep our promise to ourselves, if we are to maintain our new found winning mentality, if we expect to enjoy the benefits of democracy which is only realisable, if in government, we must present a candidate who is best equipped to win at the general election and take us to Alausa in 2023,”

In his response, Adediran, said that the group was determined to win Lagos for PDP despite all odds and challenges.

“I want to reassure you that we will continue to give the ruling party a run for their money.

“They ruling party already knows that  there is a problem in the state and that is why they will do everything possible to infiltrate our camp but we are focused.

“We expect all these and more but PDP Lagos should be rest assured that Jandor and his Lagos4Lagos team will never go back to APC,” Adediran said.

According to him, Pearse’s declaration for his aspiration is the third among party stalwarts supporting his bid to clinch PDP ticket in 2023.

“We see your coming as more gas for us to do more. Our strategy is to win for the party and it will rub off positively on other aspirants,” he added.

Lagos4Lagos crisis: Why I withdrew my membership from group– Chairman

Prince Sunday Ajayi,  State Chairman of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, a splinter group within the APC in Lagos State, has explained why he withdrew from the group’s activities and its leader, Dr Olajide Adediran.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that crisis within the group, which recently defected to the People Democratic Party (PDP), broke out on Tuesday when the group’s leader, Adediran sacked  Ajayi.

Adediran, popularly called ‘Jandor’ who is eying the governorship ticket of the Lagos PDP in the  2023 general  elections, accused Ajayi of serial improprieties, including an alleged collection of N100m bribe from the APC leader, Sen. Bola Tinubu.

Reacting, Ajayi, in a statement on Wednesday denied all allegations against him, saying that his withdrawal from the Lagos4Lagos Movement was due to Adediran’s questionable character and draconian lifestyle.

He alleged that Adediran’s life had been full of controversies.

“My attention has been drawn to a malicious statement by Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor) claiming that I collected N100 million from Bola Tinubu.

“For the records, I, Hon. Prince Sunday Ajayi, withdrew from the activities of Lagos4Lagos because of the  questionable character and draconian lifestyle of Jandor.

“For someone to accuse me of collecting money from a man I have not spoken to or interacted with in the last 3 years shows his  level of shallowness and confusion,” Ajayi said.

The chairman, who revealed that he was warned many times  before joining Jandor’s camp, alleged that Adediran usually fought  anyone who would oppose his style and actions.

Ajayi, who described Adediran as a lair, urged the Lagos PDP to be careful of  Adediran if the party intended to get it right.

“I dare Jandor to show proof of receipt of such transaction between me and  Tinubu, failure upon which I will have no choice but to institute a legal action against him.

“For clarity, Jandor’s latest action is borne out of the frustration he has met in his fruitless quest to get a PDP ticket that was already placed out of his reach from the word go.

“It’s better for him to come out clean on how his arrogant lifestyle has led 70 per cent of the movement to leave Lagos4Lagos. CHOM
