    Kwankwaso’ll strengthen Nigeria’s unity – Aniebonam

Dr Boniface Aniebonam, Founder, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) said the party’s presidential flag bearer, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, would strengthen Nigeria’s unity if elected president in 2023.

Aniebonam made this know at a media conference on Friday in Lagos.

According to Aniebonam, Kwankwaso has the qualities that Nigeria needs to make things work for the country.

“NNPP is bringing a leader that is truly patriotic, someone that will look at all the impediments, human barriers that create problems in the country and remove them.

“A leader with honour and integrity, courageous, has all it takes, stays out of corruption, a leader that will strengthen Nigeria’s unity,” he said.

Aniebonam said as the name implied, New Nigerian People Party, every Nigerian was looking forward to a new Nigeria where leadership was provided, where things were reasonably done.

He added that the welfare of a greater number would be taken into account; food on the table, state of the nation should change from consumption to production.

“This is not a difficult thing to do. What should he disturbing us is why are these things not happening,” he said.

On security issue, he said it was a collective responsibility, adding that government had to be in front because they had the machinery.

“We all know what the problem is all about, we are not united and that is why we have all these infiltrations, we are all suspecting ourselves.

“That is the basic thing I am advocating for, that we need to bring Nigerians together, let everybody know that they are brothers and sisters, leadership will provide that.

“What is important is a better Nigeria, Nigerians want to live a good life and so the issue of opposition does not come in. And our interest is on how to provide Nigeria with leadership,” he said.

Oyo 2023: Agbaje may dump APC for NNPP

Barring any last minute intervention, another All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Mr Akeem Agbaje, may be on his way out of the party.

A source within Agbaje’s camp told newsmen on Monday that the governorship aspirant might join New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to actualise his ambition.

The source attributed the development to the way and manner in which the last APC governorship primary was conducted in the state.

“Agbaje is certainly not happy with the conduct of the last APC governorship primary in Oyo State and that is why he is considering moving out of the party along with his teeming supporters,” the source said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Agbaje and some other governorship aspirants had complained over alleged manipulations of the delegates’ list during the primary election.

Other aspirants, who were also affected by what they called “high-tec manipulations” by the APC leadership at the national level, were Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Chief Niyi Akintola (SAN), Dr Azeez Adeduntan and Mr Hakeem Alao.

NAN reports that while Adelabu had since defected to Accord Party over same issue, others still remain aggrieved, although they have yet to announce their next political moves.

The source said that Agbaje had complained about the alleged conspiracy by the party’s national secretariat and its leaders on the process that produced Sen. Teslim Folarin as the governorship candidate.

According to him, the outcome of the exercise has torn APC in the state apart, with the minority now holding sway.

He said that Agbaje had dropped the hint at a gathering in Ibadan, adding that arrangements had been concluded for him to defect to NNPP.

NAN reports that Agbaje could, however, not be reached for confirmation as at the time of filing this report.

    2023: Kwankwaso is NNPP’s sole presidential candidate—Founder

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former Governor of Kano State, remains its sole presidential candidate to fly its ticket in the 2023 general elections.

Dr Boniface Aniebonam, NNPP pioneer National Chairman and founder, disclosed this at a news conference on Friday in Lagos.

Aniebonam said that the party’s Special National Convention scheduled for June 8 in Abuja was just to confirm Kwankwaso, a former defence minister, as the candidate of NNPP.

“He (Kwankwaso) is to be returned unopposed. Kwankwaso is a man of God.

“Now is the time for God’s intervention in Nigeria. What Nigeria need now is a strong leader like Kwankwaso. A man with character and patriotism with capacity for human development.

“When we get a strong leader, all agitations will die a natural death. If Kwankwaso emerges the President, some of these problems will be resolved,” he said.

The founder said that only divine leadership could solve Nigeria’s numerous challenges.

Aniebonam said the popular Kano politician had the divine voice of God to lead on the platform of NNPP.

He added that the responsibility before Kwankwaso was to reunite Nigerians, address insecurity through a revamped economy, employment opportunities and social services.

“Let Nigeria start again from the beginning. Kwankwaso is coming in to bring everybody together to end all these challenges. He is going to bring Nigerians together and he is going to re unite this country.

“Nigeria is a consuming nation. Therefore, a mandate for Kwankwaso is to reverse the trend and to make Nigeria a productive nation. Insecurity will die a natural death if there is sense of belonging, employment.

“The messenger of God has come. God’s hand is in NNPP. Let the people take their destiny in their hand in 2023,” he said.

According to him, NNPP commenced its operations in 2022 to mobilise Nigerians in the bid to reinvent a new Nigeria of everyone’s dream.

He said it had become imperative for people to take responsibility and elect credible Nigerians in 2023 to enthrone good governance.

“Indeed, the problem of Nigeria is so solvable if only leadership is divine. This is because there are no difficulties in bringing all the nationalities together to discuss how best we can live together as a people.

“The resources are available to cater for social amenities, sports, youths development and education,” Aniebonam said.

Stating that NNPP originated from the transport industry, logistics businesses and customs facilitation, Aniebonam urged stakeholders in the industry to mobilise 10 million votes for NNPP presidential candidate in 2023.

“We must therefore form a strong block and drive membership and finances as part of our contribution to the success of NNPP in 2023. It is only then we can bargain effectively with a view to securing our interest and better future.

“The reach and opportunity abound to get the attention of Sen. Kwankwaso who is the sole candidate of the party in the 2023 general election.

“Let us go out to mobilise all over our clients (importers, exporters dependents and associates) and with our PVC’s on hand to raise 10 million votes for NNPP presidential candidate,” Aniebonam said.

He urged stakeholders and members of the party to build consensus and ensure constructive criticisms so as not to incite the people.

6 governorship, 9 senate aspirants vying for NNPP tickets in Plateau

No fewer than six governorship and nine senatorial aspirants are vying for New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) tickets in Plateau. Plateau NNPP Chairman, Mr Tokji Mandim who made the known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Jos, said the party would field candidates in all the elective positions in the state. Mandim told NAN that the party’s governorship primaries would hold on Tuesday in Jos while those of Senate,  House of Representatives and House of Assembly would also take place within the week. The chairman said unlike the other political parties whose primaries were characterised by alleged  impositions and complaints, the NNPP elections would be seamless. “NNPP is not like other political parties that keep recycling old people,  we will give the youths a chance to lead. “NNPP is dominated by youths and people that love Nigeria and we will ensure that the wishes of the people prevail,” he stated. Mandim said that the NNPP had what it takes to dislodge the current occupants of Plateau Government House. The chairman pointed out that, beside the party’s strength and acceptability, the abysmal performance of the former and current ruling party had made their job easier. “There is practically nothing to show in what they have done to improve the well being of the people. “Unlike them, when NNPP comes to power, we will change the wrong notion that Plateau is a civil servants state. “We will develop our tourism potential and make Plateau a tourism hub for Nigeria and Africa. “By so doing we will reduce our dependence on federal allocation and equally generate employment for our teeming youths,” he said. Don’t field candidates against Orji Kalu, group appeals to parties

A group under the aegis of Abia Stakeholders for Peace and Development (ANSPEN), has appealed to political parties in Abia not to field candidates against the Chief Whip of the Senate, Sen. Orji Kalu.

The group is made up of traditional rulers, youth groups, Abia professionals, academics, prominent members of the political class and top businessmen.

The group in a statement issued on Wednesday drummed support for Kalu’s re-election to the senate.

According to the leader of the group, Dr Kalu Ncheghe, indices show that the senate chief whip had performed well to deserve re-elected.

“The group believes that Kalu’s performance as the senator representing Abia North senatorial district is the best in the history of Abia and Nigeria at large,” he said.

While appealing to the people of Abia North senatorial district to continue to support the senator, Ncheghe said that Kalu was ready to do more for the district.

“All political parties in Abia should not bother fielding candidates against the chief whip of the senate.

“Whether PDP, APGA, APP, NNPP or SDP should not think of wasting their time, because we have resolved to return Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu unopposed as the senator representing Abia North senatorial district in 2023.

“Orji Kalu’s performance as a senator is the best in the history of Abia and Nigeria at large. We are bi-partisan and our interest is the development of Abia North senatorial district.

“We need to encourage and support his aspiration in 2023. If Nigerians don’t anoint him as the APC presidential candidate, we will love to see him in the red chambers again.

“What he has done as a senator is unprecedented; the building of roads, schools, and distribution of educational materials, is the first of its kind in Abia North senatorial district.

“The bills, motions, and infrastructural development are the best we have seen since 1999.

“We should not joke with our best at this critical time. We need more development in Abia North.

“Therefore, I am appealing to all to continue to trust Sen. Orji Kalu even beyond 2023 for more development.

“We are ready to refund money to all the senatorial aspirants from Abia North senatorial district.

“Kalu is the consensus of all, including our traditional rulers,” Ncheghe said.

Kwankwaso is messenger of God to fight hunger, unite Nigeria – NNPP

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has described its 2023 presidential candidate, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso as “a messenger of God’’ who wants to fight hunger and reunite Nigeria.

Rev. Emma Agubanze, Member, Spiritual Committee of NNPP, stated in Lagos on Wednesday that the 2023 general elections would be a smooth sail to victory for Kwankwaso and the party.

“Let it be on record that Sen. Kwankwaso is not the subject matter. The truth is that the hand of God is upon Nigeria at the moment ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“We hereby make a declaration that Sen. Kwankwaso is a messenger of God to reunite Nigerians and get it started from the beginning once again.

“We invite the good people of Nigeria and children of God to join us to re-event Nigeria of our dreams,’’Agubanze stated.

He commended Sen. Orji Kalu, former Abia governor and APC chieftain, for saying that the emergence of Kwankwaso had changed the narratives of politics in Nigeria ahead of the 2023 general elections.

According to him, Kalu has insisted that it is going to be a smooth sail to victory for Sen. Kwankwaso and the party.

“While we listened to his words of advice to our sister political parties, we realise that Nigerians are looking forward to a new beginning.

“It is common knowledge for any patriotic and sensible Nigerian to understand that the name `New Nigeria Peoples Party’ with a logo of basket of fruits is divine.

“What we can say to Nigerians is straightforward and unambiguous – nobody gives you power and, therefore, what is needed of us all is to ensure that we register with INEC to be able to vote and as well protect our votes.

“This is because to beat a champion in any competition is a difficult task but achievable,’’ he added.

According to him, NNPP must not be carried away by the impression that it is all over in the presidential election with the emergence of Sen. Kwankwaso as its candidate.

“We must continue to work very hard knowing full well that hunger and corruption are in the driver’s seat in Nigeria currently.

“Let us pray for our country and our sister political parties to imbibe the spirit of fairness, equity, good conscience and justice to the Southeast in line with their internal zoning arrangement,’’ Agubanze stated.
