The Presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, has inaugurated the Delta South Senatorial candidate’s campaign office in Warri ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Kwankwaso who arrived in Warri on Saturday to inaugurate the campaign office, solicited support for retired Commodore Omatseye Nesiama, the party’s Delta South Senatorial candidate.
The NNPP presidential candidate noted that official campaign had not started.
He said that the large turnout of party faithful to welcome him in Warri attested to the popularity of Commodore Nesiama and the party.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Kwankwaso and his entourage were earlier received by Commodore Nesiama and other party faithful at the Osubi Airstrip in Okpe Local Government Area.
Before the arrival of Kwankwaso, scores of party supporters had dumped their engagements for NNPP during a “Hope Walk” on Saturday.
The hope walk was organised by Nesiama’s Campaign Organisation as part of the activities lined up for the arrival of Kwankwaso and inaugurating the Delta South Senatorial office of Commodore Nesiama.
The movement began from McDermott Junction in Igbudu community and traversed Deco Junction, Okumagba Avenue, Estate, Okere Market and terminated at the secretariat of the Nesiama’s campaign office at Odion Road.
The party faithful said they were tired of failed promises and that their “former parties were not carrying them along in the scheme of things.
”
Addressing them, Nesiama urged the people to have their Permanent Voters Card (PVC), noting that the card was the tool for them to elect candidates of their choice in the forthcoming general elections.
While noting that elections were not a do- or- die contest, Nesiama stressed that the hope of the people had been rekindled with the presence of people like him in the race.
“The movement is to sensitise the people to the need for them to collect their PVC’s because without the card, you can not vote.
In other words, you have forefeited your rights to decide on who you want.
“I encourage people to replicate the zeal they displayed during the voters registration in the collection of their PVCs. They should protect their vote and ensure it counts.
“The people of Delta South have moved out to show that they love the Commodore of hope, they love the NNPP coming with new possibilities for them.
“That is the joyful thing.
I am elated.
I am overwhelmed and I thank God for that opportunity and for the impetus to do more.
“It’s obvious with the turn out of people that nobody was hired.
Nobody was bought.
People came out enmasse to support this movement,” Nesiama said.

Over 9,800 supporters of the PDP and NNPP in Goronyo local government area have dumped their parties for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Sokoto by Bashar Abubakar, Special Assistant on New Media to APC leader in the state, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto North).
Abubakar said that the defectors included NNPP State House of Assembly candidate in the area, Alhaji Maniru Malami, alongside hundreds of his supporters.
Abubakar said that Malami dumped the party alongside all his local government and 11 ward executive committee members.
The new entrants into the APC also included an ex-State House of Assembly aspirant, Alhaji Shehu Dan-Tsamaye and the incumbent Financial Secretary, Alhaji Hamza ‘Yar-Dole.
Others were the Chairman, Forum of wards Chairmen in the area, Alhaji Amadu Dan-Kansila and another PDP bigwig, Alhaji Hamisu Mai-Alewa.
Abubakar said that they were received into the fold of the APC by the party’s Gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 General Elections, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu.
Aliyu said that the mass exodus into the APC was a sign of the increasing acceptability of the party.
Aliyu said,” PDP in the state has failed to redeem all the promises it had made to the people of the state since 2019.”
The state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Isa Sadiq-Achida pledged to treat the defectors equally with the older members of the party.
Sadiq-Achida said,”we are hopeful that APC will emerge victorious during the forthcoming general polls at all levels.
”
APC Zonal Secretary, North West, Alhaji Bello Goronyo and it’s Senatorial candidate for Sokoto East, Alhaji Ibrahim Lamido, said the party at the national level was strategising towards successful campaigns in the country.
APC Chairman in Goronyo Local Government, Alhaji Kabiru Sarkin-Fulani lauded the defectors for “ taking the right decision, at the right time.
”
A cross section of the defectors cited the alleged failure of the PDP-led state government to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state as one of their reasons for dumping it.

Dr Boniface Aniebonam, Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustee of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has described Atedo Peterside’s ANAP Foundation as transactional outfit following its recent projection of the 2023 presidential election.
The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that ANAP Foundation had put the 2023 presidential election as a three-horse race.
It said the race was between the candidates of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi; All Progressives Congress, Sen. Bola Tinubu; and Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, after a new poll concluded in early September.
According to the result of the poll which was commissioned by the ANAP Foundation and conducted by NOI Polls Ltd., Obi will lead the race with 21 per cent of votes in the poll.
The outcome showed that Obi’s votes would give him an eight per cent lead over APC’s Tinubu and PDP’s Abubakar who each got 13 per cent of the votes to end up as joint second in the poll.
The presidential candidate of the NNPP, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, was fourth in the poll with three per cent of the votes.
Aniebonam in a statement on Friday in Lagos, described such projection poll as false and deceitful.
“What should worry Nigerians is the age of Atedo Peterside to be associated and directly involved in falsehood and deciet of the public in the name of politics.
“Peterside’s ANAP may be simply described as a transactional organisation.
“We can only but put them to prayers so that God may help them to find food through honourable and genuine means.
“The fact is obvious that NNPP is the party to beat in 2023.”
He said that the emergence of Kwankwaso as NNPP presidential candidate had changed the political narratives of Nigeria.
“Watch out as we coast to victory in 2023,” he added.

The Campaign Council of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Presidential Candidate Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, says projections in the presidential poll by ANAP Foundation are self seeking, self serving, misleading, inaccurate and laced with partisanship.
The spokesperson of the council, Mr Ladipo Johnson while reacting to the poll, impunged the sampling methods of the data collection which projected Kwankwaso as coming fourth in the 2023 general elections.
The presidential candidate of the NNPP, Kwankwaso, was fourth in the poll with three per cent of the votes.
Johnson described the projection as bogus and misleading.
He said that he watched the interview on Arise Television programme earlier in the morning when the Chairman of ANAP Foundation, Mr Atedo Peterside could not adequately respond to, or substantiate “the sampling method used in arriving at the obviously unverifiable or concocted data”.
Johnson said: “His defence was rather unclear and begging the question whether the poll was authentic by telling Nigerians or whoever is not comfortable with the outcome to go do their own poll!
“I would take it with a pinch of salt.
This is a known template.
In this season we should expect many more dubious sounding opinions, polls etc.
“Unfortunately there are many who for parochial reasons are drawing back the development of our democracy, due to various propaganda tricks.
”
According to him, the data purportedly relied upon did not go far enough in an empirical manner to show the ethnic and religious backgrounds of those polled.
He added that there was no indication as to whether those polled were artisans, educated or non educated , professional or non professional Nigerians among others.
“The poll is to say the least bogus and an attempt to create the impression that the LP candidate has the potential to succeed when in actual fact, the reality on ground is totally different.
“This is similar to a misleading poll they conducted before the Ekiti election,” he said.
According to him, in any event, the poll will succeed in giving their supporters temporary euphoria.
“On our part, we are building momentum at the grassroots level round the country and look forward to Sept. 28 when we will openly bring our positive message for a new and prosperous Nigeria where every citizen will have the opportunity for a better life, to the people of the country.
“The NNPP insists that the complete process of the poll should be published if not, the poll cannot be taken seriously,” Johnson said.
