The Party National Publicity Secretary, Mr Debo Ologunagba, reacting to questions from journalists on Thursday in Abuja said there was no any misgiving among the party NWC.

“For the emphasis, I need to make this very clear that the NWC, led by Ayu is united, no misgiving, we are solidly behind him and his leadership.

“We believe in his leadership and every organ of the party is associated.

We have a relationship within the NWC that is based purely on the interest of the party “So we are fine and Ayu is leading us well and I am sure that the party is satisfy with him,” he said.

On what the party was doing to reconcile the party Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar and Gov. Nyesom Wike, the party image maker said that efforts were ongoing.

Ologunagba said that in a family there was a tendency to be misunderstanding but the capacity to handle it well would always make the difference.

“In PDP we believe that people should speak.

    We don’t give instructions.

We allow issues to be discussed openly and that’s what we’re doing.

The processes of the party is working well.

“We are competent in our processes.

It might be slow, by the expectations of other people but within our democratic process it is ongoing.

    We are making progress.

We are very certain we will do well.

Not just for the party but for the interest of Nigeria, ” he said.

On the appointment of Sen. Dino Malaye and Daniel Bwala by Abubakar as his spokespersons for 2023 electioneering campaign, Ologunagba said that Abubakar has the right to make appointment, as he also did last week.

He, however, said that the party and Abubakar were working in synergy to achieve victory in 2023 presidential election.

“We are moving steadily, surely and consistent with our policy of mass and extensive consultation in composition to do things orderly.

“Whatever action is taking by any part of the party, whether by the candidate or the party is all in sync with each other and there is no concern about it.

“We are not acting piece meal.

We are acting together, moving in the same direction, working toward 2023 and surely we will have victory,” the national publicity secretary said.

Ologunagba reading the communiqué of the Interactive meeting of the NWC with former national publicity secretaries, states publicity secretaries and other stakeholders said that the meeting restated confidence in Ayu and the NWC in running the affairs of the party.

“The meeting restates confidence in the capacity, experience and competence of Abubakar to rescue, redirect and rebuild this country to earn the respect of the International Community.

“We believe that only the PDP under the leadership of Abubakar has the capacity to protect and secure the lives and properties of Nigerians as well as rebuild the economy of the nation in such a manner as to put food on the table.

“We commit to remain loyal and integral in the mission of the PDP to make all sacrifices necessary to achieve success in rescuing, redirecting and rebuilding our nation,” Ologunagba said.

2023: Adamu urges APC members to close ranks to ensure victory

Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), National Chairman has urged party members to close ranks and work as a team to ensure victory in the forthcoming general elections.

Adamu made the call while speaking with newsmen after inaugurating an eight-member Abia Reconciliation Committee.

“We have to do some works and forget some of the prejudices and stand together.

”We don’t want anybody to come here after the elections and start crying and laying blames on us for our failures.

“I will not listen to that, this is the time to unite, this is the time to work for unity, if we do, God will be with us,” the APC national chairman said.

He said ahead of inaugurating the committee, comprehensive meetings were held between the party’s leaders in Abia. Adamu said that they were involved in negotiations and its National Working Committee (NWC), especially during its primaries and after it.

Adamu expressed optimism that with the inauguration of the committee, there would be peace in APC Abia. “We are not going to hold reconciliation meetings again.

We will now leave it to the leaders of the party in Abia to play their politics in the state.

“Abuja is not about Abia, go to Abia and play politics there, do the necessary, lobby and reconciliation there because all politics is local.

“Abuja is not Abia locality, Abuja is the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), we converged here from various states.

Let Abia go and work together,” he said.

Adamu however, added that the party would not be satisfied with just 25 per cent of votes cast at the general elections.

“All the national elections, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship, likely the presidential election, we will not be satisfied with just the 25 per cent of votes cast.

“No half way about it, if we are to win, we must try to win every state,” Adamu stressed.

The Chairman of the committee, Mr Chris Adighije, in his remarks, said the committee would reconcile all aggrieved APC members in Abia. This, he said, was critical to enable the party build strength to face challenges from other political parties The APC National Chairman urged the members to quickly come together to work in unity.

“We are on our way back to Abia to play the local politics, reconcile all our members and ensure that we go straight for the low hanging fruits which would have lost if we don’t get together.

“And I know that by the grace of God and with the team, we are going to do the needful and ensure victory for our party,” he added.

Adighije said the party’s chances of winning APC in the coming elections were bright.

“If you look at my face very well you will know that I am an old war horse and I wouldn’t be standing here if I am not sure.

“So, we have great chance, we only have to do the needful to work together,” he said.

He added that the committee would do the needful to address every of the party’s challenges in Abia. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Sen. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Deputy Chief Whip House of Representatives will serve as secretary of the committee.

Other members of the committee are Mr Henry Ikoh, Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Emeka Atuma,  Martins Azubuike and Dr Emeka Wogu, former Minister of Labour and Productivity.

The APC Abia governorship candidate, Mr Ikechi Emenike is also a member of the committee, among others (www.

2023: ADC to create social support structures for aged

Dr Dumebi Kachikwu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) 2023 presidential candidate, has pledged to create social support structures for the aged in the country, if elected.

He said in Abuja on Wednesday while speaking with newsmen that his administration would also give priority to payment of pensioners’ allowances.

Kachikwu spoke on the sidelines of a condolence visit by a delegation of the party’s National Working Committee to its Board of Trustee Chair, Sen. Patricia Akwashiki, on the death of her mother, Mama Maryama Abimiku, who died at the age of 96.The delegation was led by the ADC National Chairman, Chief Ralphs Nwosu, and Dr Peter Edeh, its National Zonal Chairman, North Central.

The ADC presidential flagbearer noted that though the aged and vulnerable persons were segment of the society that should be taken care of, they were presently always under-supported.

“My plan is to create social support structures for these people, our government is a government that will pride itself on making Nigeria work for everyone, so on that level they will be taken care of.

“If you look at what is going on across the world in terms of recession and inflation, the aged segment of the society are mostly affected.

“COVID-19 came and they suffered it the most, and most of them were left to be on their own.

“But as Nigerians, we need to start preaching love and tolerance and think of ways of helping such people so we can lift them up,” he said.

The presidential candidate said there was the need to build more homes in Nigeria to cater for the aged.

Kachikwu added that government at all levels should also start putting in place support structures to help the aged.

He said though it was the responsibility of the private sector to provide such homes, where the private sector was lacking, government could take up the initiative.

”If the government ventures into such enterprise, it will give direction for the private sector to follow.

“If we put things like this in place they will do better in society, my government will definitely thrive on that,” he stressed.

Kachikwu further said that even at retirement, the aged were not paid their pension allowances as at when due, adding that his administration will change the narrative, if given the mandate.

“A lot of these people live their productive years in service to the nation and eventually their pensions are not paid.

“We hear cases of retirees queuing outside government offices waiting for their pensions and some died on the queue not receiving it.

Brain Drain: Association losses 200 pharmacists to better environment

Mr Olabode Ogunjemiyo, National Chairman, Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), on Monday said about 200 of its members left the country in search of better practice environment abroad.

Ogunjemiyo said this at a news conference during its 23rd Annual National Scientific Conference with the theme entitled: ”COVID-19 Experience: Expanding the Role of Health System Pharmacists” in Lafia.

Brain drain is a term indicating substantial emigration or migration of individuals which often results from turmoil within a nation or the existence of favourable professional opportunities in other countries, or from a desire to seek a higher standard of living.

He said that those who have left the country did so because of poor practice environment, insecurity, poor condition of services.

“I remember a colleague of mine who was traveling from Owo, in Ondo State where we practise, to Benin in Edo state.

“He was kidnapped along the way.

As soon as he was released, he immediately left the country with his family.

“So those are the major reasons.

“So within the last one year, we have lost about 200 pharmacists to brain drain.

Most of them have gone to Canada and other developed countries,” he said.

Ogunjemiyo said that the situation as at now was that the pharmacists were more at the top level and few at lower level because once they came in and saw better opportunity abroad, they just took off.

He said that the association was expecting over 1,000 pharmacists across the country from the rank and file within the Hospital and Administrative positions, and those from other areas of pharmacy practice to attend the conference which kicked-off today.

“It is worthy of note that Nasarawa State is hosting the conference of any professional group of this magnitude for the very first time since its creation.

“It is indeed a great honour for the government and the people of Nasarawa state as the name of the state will be included in the pharmaceutical lexicon,” he said.

Ogunjemiyo said during the conference, the association would pay courtesy call on dignitaries in the state, conduct health walk against drug abuse, health outreach for indigenes at the Emir of Lafia’s palace, Townhall meeting and plenary sessions.

“This is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility carried out regularly and during conferences of this magnitude.

“It is meant to complement efforts of Nasarawa Government in improving the health of its citizenry.

About 1,000 indigenes are expected to benefit from the medical outreach and they will enjoy pharmaceutical care, free of charge.

”Malaria, Blood Pressure check, Height and Weight check, Blood glucose are some of the issues to be looked into.

They will also get free consultation and counselling,” he said.

Ogunjemiyo said that the conference aimed to bring members together, provide enabling environment for discussion about practice issues and learn the latest development in hospital and administrative practice.
