The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, has arrested three suspects for committing different offences bordering on theft, criminal breach of trust and rape.
The Spokesman of the Command, Mr Ayeni Olasunkanmi, told newsmen on Friday in Ilorin that the suspects were arrested at different times.
Olasunkanmi said that one Arowolo Ayodeji, a 55-year-old man, was arrested following report of his sexual relationship with his 19 years old daughter.
He explained that the victim reported the case through the Social Welfare Unit of NSCDC, narrating how the father had been having relationship with her, since she was seven years.
The spokesman said that the suspect (Ayodeji) lived with his daughter at Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State, and had been sexually harassing the daughter for 12 years.
“The man visited his daughter in Ilorin and wanted to have his way as usual, but she refused and escaped from his evil plan,” he said.
Olasunkanmi further said that the second suspect, Qodri Ademola, from Gaa-Odota Ilorin, stole 21 phones that belonged to some students at the venue of JAMB examination centre, Aromaradu, Ita-Amodu Area, Ilorin.
He said that Ademola pretended to be selling nose mask at the venue of the examination centre and was entrusted with students phones during the examination on May 10. The spokesman said that the suspect absconded with the students phones and had been on the run until he was arrested by NSCDC officers on Aug. 2. He however said that the third suspect, Showole Emmanuel, 19 years old, broke into a house at Sango Area, Ilorin, and stole car spare parts from a parked vehicle.
Olasunkanmi said that Emmanuel pretended to be a scavenger that picks iron material at refuse dump, but specialised in stealing and house breaking.
He said that the three suspects confessed to have committed the offences and would be prosecuted immediately, to serve as a lesson to others like them.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, has arrested eight suspects for stealing and conspiring to sell stolen motorcycles.
The suspects that stole the motorcycles were Adifarin Sunday, 35; Taiwo Elijah, 26; and Wasiu Ismail, 26.
The Spokesman of the command, Mr Ayeni Olasunkanmi, told newsmen in Ilorin on Monday that the suspects were arrested at Oro area.
Olasunkanmi said that one Abolaji Taofeek of Oro area had on July 15, reported at Oro Division about his stolen motorcycle and that of his neighbour (Rubber Rubber).
He said that investigation conducted led to the arrest of the suspects on July 15, and further investigation conducted revealed the sellers of the stolen motorcycles.
The spokesman said that the suspects that sold the motorcycles included Olasunkanmi Adebisi, Olanrewaju Ismail, Mutiu Adeleke, Ogunbiyi Johnson and Bashir Ishola, while the remaining three were still at large.
“Two motorcycles were stolen in Oro, while one was stolen in Ogbomosho and two suspects were arrested in Oro and the third suspect was arrested in Ilorin.
“The first suspect, Sunday, resides in Oro and invited the two other suspects to carry out the crime,” he said.
The NSCDC spokesman said that two of the stolen motorcycles were sold for N260,000 (N130,000 each) while its cost price was N550,000 each.
Speaking to NAN, the first suspect (Sunday) confessed to had stolen the motorcycles at midnight from the complainant’s residence at Oro. “Brother Olasunkanmi sold the motorcycles for N130,000 each and we gave him and his boys N30,000 for their services.
“We were caught in Oro on Friday, July 22, when Elijah invited me for another operation in Oro,” he said.
The suspects however denied stealing the third motorcycle recovered in Ilorin from Ismail’s custody, while Ismail also denied the allegation.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, has arrested a 22-year old Ayuba Enupe over alleged house breaking and theft.
This is contained in a statement by the Spokesperson of the Command, Mr Ayeni Olasunkanmi on Saturday in Ilorin.
Olasunkanmi stated that the suspect broke into the house of one Jimoh Adigun, at General Hospital Road in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state at about 1:00 a.m. on Thursday.
He alleged that Enupe stole five bundles of 50kg empty sacks from the complainant’s residence.
The NSCD’s Spokesman further said that the suspect was eventually arrested by some officers and men of NSCDC while he was trying to dispose the stolen materials.
“Further investigation revealed that Ayuba was earlier involved in another house breaking where he stole two Android phones from one AbdulRasaq, at his residence in Kuokuo Area, Kaiama,” he said.
Olasunkanmi said that the suspect would be prosecuted accordingly.
“The Acting Commandant, DCC Jonah Gabriel, appealed to the people of the state to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement in their areas.
“He gave the assurance that the corps would not compromise in its duties to protect lives and properties of Nigerians and requested for more cooperation and support to achieve a crime-free society.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, has arrested a 40-year-old suspected kidnapper at Owode near Banni in Kaiama Local Government Area.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the suspect was paraded on Monday, at NSCDC Command Headquarters, Ilorin.
Briefing journalists on the arrest, the Spokesman of the Command, Mr Ayeni Olasunkanmi, said that the arrested suspect was an alleged member of a gang reported to have kidnapped an elderly man in Eruwa, Oyo state.
He said that some of the alleged members of the gang had earlier been arrested by the Police Command in Oyo State.
“The suspects were said to have collected ransom from the victim’s family and still killed the elderly man,” Olasunkanmi said.
According to him, three suspects were arrested in connection with the kidnap and killing of the elderly man, but two of the alleged gang members escaped.
He further said that the arrested suspect fled from Eruwa in Oyo state, but was caught by the officers of NSCDC at Owode near Banni, Kaiama Local Government Area.
Olasunkanmi said that the suspects earlier arrested had disclosed the suspect’s name as one of their gang members.
The NSCDC spokesman said that security personnel were intensifying efforts to arrest the remaining member of the alleged kidnapping gang, who is still at large.
He said that the suspect would be handed over to the Police Command in Oyo State to enable them continue with their investigation.
The NSCDC Acting Commandant in Kwara, DCC Jonah Gabriel, called on the people of the state to always support security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious character in their environment.
