The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ondo State Command, on Thursday promoted and decorated 40 newly-promoted senior officers to various ranks in the state.
Dr Hammed Abodunrin, NSCDC State Commandant, while decorating the officers in Akure, charged them to be more committed and dedicated to their duties.
Abodunrin, who said that Ondo State Command was lucky to have 40 senior officers promoted.
at the same time, admonished the officers to redouble their efforts in ensuring that lives and property of Nigerian residents were safe.
Abodunrin explained that since the NSCDC Commander General came, he had ensured that every personnel of civil defence got their promotion at the right time, saying that all the junior officers that sat for the exams were promoted.
According to him, if you have a privilege being promoted, it means that you have to justify it because promotion is a privilege, not a right.
“Promotion is designed to motivate the personnel, by so doing you must be more hardworking; by being more committed; by being more loyal to the service and to the people of Nigeria.
“The message of the commander general is that to whom much is given, much is expected.
“Also, Ondo State Command has been declared as the best command throughout the federation on three consecutive times, so our newly promoted officers should redouble their energy to maintain the success,” he said.
Abodunrin, therefore, called on those who did not meet up during the promotion not to relent in their duties.
“For those who are not captured, you should not be reacting because you are not promoted and reduce what you are doing, remember that you are good as your last promotion.
“So, either you are promoted or not, you have a duty to keep on being honest, keep on being loyal, keep on being committed and keep on being dedicated to the job you have taken.
“The job you have taken is the job of protecting lives and properties of Nigerians and residents alike,” he said.
One of the promoted officers, Mr Olorunmayo Joseph, who moved from Assistant Corps Commander (ACC) to Deputy Corps Commander (DCC), appreciated the commander-general and the commandant.
He promised that all the new officers would justified their new ranks by being dedicated to their duties.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ondo State Controller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, the representative of Nigerian Correctional Service were present at the event.
NAN also reports that the representative of the Deji of Akure; and Mr Eyitayo Jegede, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the last election were also present at the event.
