The All Progressives Congress (APC) has shifted the inauguration of its 422- member Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), earlier scheduled for Monday, Sept. 26, to Wednesday, Sept. 28. Mr Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media and Publicity, APC PC, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday night in Abuja.
“The APC Presidential Campaign Council wishes to inform all members nominated to serve in the various directorates to report at the campaign headquarters on Wednesday Sept. 28, 2022 at 8 a.
m. “Nominated members are expected to participate in the special prayer sessions marking the commencement of the 2023 presidential election campaigns,” Onanuga said.
He said that there would be a peace walk immediately after the prayers, saying that all nominees would be issued their letters of appointment on the same day.
He congratulated members of the campaign council, saying it was a call to serve the party with total commitment and sacrifice.
“We know this is a call to serve our great party that will demand total commitment and sacrifice from all of us.
“It is the council’s strong belief that all members will work hard to deliver a resounding victory for our great party in the 2023 presidential election.
“We also want to use this medium to express our profound gratitude to all support groups registered with the campaign council.
“We are aware you have been working assiduously to promote our candidates and the party across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),” he said.
He said that the APC and the candidates acknowledged their hard work and great financial and human resources that had been voluntarily expended.
Onanuga urged the support groups to continue their good work, adding that the PCC would work with the support groups as it moved along into the campaign season.
He encouraged other groups yet to formally register with the PCC to do so immediately for proper harmonisation.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that according to a list of members of the council earlier released by the party, President Muhammadu Buhari will head the council.
Sen. Bola Tinubu, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate and Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the party National Chairman, are to serve as Deputy Chairmen of the council.
Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau is the Director-General with James Faleke as Secretary to the council.
Sen. Kashim Shettima, the party’s Vice-Presidential candidate is the vice chairman of the council and Adams Oshiomhole, former APC National Chairman is the deputy Director-General (Operations) while Hadiza Usman is the Deputy Director-General (Administration)
A Coalition of Civil Society Groups (CSOs) has commended the National Chairman, All Progress Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu for appointing Mr Ben Duntoye, a Special Adviser on Civil Society of the party.
This is contained in a statement jointly signed by some of the CSOs on Monday in Abuja.
Mr Charles Ibiang, the National Coordinator of the Civil Society Coalition for Good Governance said Duntoye’s pedigree, commitment to national development, credible records within the Civil Society space gave him the leeway.
He described Duntoye as a man with strong faith in the ideals of the APC, adding that this must have been responsible for his appointment.
Ibiang said: “Adamu is the first political party chairman in Nigeria to recognise the role of civil society in this manner, as a way of deepening democratic governance in Nigeria.
Mr Jubril Muregi, the National Chairman of the Arewa Young Leaders Consultative Forum (AYLCF), said Duntoye’s appointment was a clear demonstration of Adamu’s belief in the potency of the civil society According to him, Adamu deserves commendation for this historic and strategic appointment of a seasoned personality.

” In a related development, a foremost Youth Leader, Mr Blessing Akinlosotun, President Nigerian Youth Congress, extolled the virtues of Duntoye, describing the appointment as “the right step’’.
He said that Duntoye was former President of Pan-African Youth Union (PYU) and a former President, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
He said Duntoye was a member of the Civil Society, Youth and Women delegation to the National Political Reform Conference 2005 and the head of the Youth Delegation to the National Conference 2014. He said Duntoye was equally one of the Civil Society Representatives in the Nigeria Vision 2020 Steering Committee and was a former Commissioner for Information and Communications in Kwara State.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate in 2023 polls, Sen. Bola Tinubu has donated N50 million to flood victims in Jigawa.
Tinubu announced the donation shortly after he commiserated with Gov. Muhammad Badaru, in Dutse on Tuesday.
The presidential candidate called for sustained prayers to end flood disasters in the state and the nation in general.
“Even though I have offered my prayers to the victims through your governor, but I felt coming in person to commiserate with you is important,” Tinubu said.
He was accompanied on the visit by Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau state, APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, APC National Women Leader, Dr Betta Edu and ex-Chairman of EFCC, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, among others.
Badaru, who received the presidential candidate said that his visit had brought succour to the flood victims.
“Tinubu had earlier called and commiserated with me when the first flood was recorded in Kafin-hausa, he again called when it happened in Hadejia, Gumel and Malammadori.
“Also, two weeks ago, when similar incident occurred in Birnin-kudu, Gwaram and Dutse, precisely Karnaya, Tinubu called again.
“And today, he decided to come in person in spite of his tight commitments to commiserate with our people over the recent tragic incidents of flood,” Badaru said.
Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, APC National Chairman, on Friday solicited the support of traditional rulers towards ensuring hitch-free 2023 General Elections.
Adamu made the plea during a courtesy visit on Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu-Bashar, in Birnin Kebbi.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the APC Chairman was in Kebbi State to attend the wedding Fatiha of the two daughters of ex-Chief of Staff, Kebbi Government House and present National Organising Secretary of APC, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad-Argungu.
Adamu said: “We are here in Kebbi for a wedding ceremony, but we felt it is necessary to pay homage on you as a father to all.
“We are here to seek royal blessings and at the same time plead for your support and cooperation towards a successful conduct of 2023 General Elections.
“As a father and highly respected individual in the society, who is always in contact with his people at all levels, it’s imperative to come and seek for support and cooperation.
”The chairman appealed to the Emir to use his position to counsel the youth on the need to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the general elections.
He called on youth not to be allowed to be used by selfish politicians to cause confusion, advising, “we should understand that Nigeria belongs to all of us.

Responding, Iliyasu-Bashar, appreciated the national chairman for the visit, advising politicians to caution their supporters against acts capable of causing violence during the forthcoming elections.
“Election is not a war, it is no a do or die affair, so there is need for politicians to caution their supporters against violence.
‘’People should be allowed to vote for whoever they think will take them to the promised land,” he said.
According to him, no meaningful development can be achieved in any country in an atmosphere of uncertainty and chaos.
The emir, who urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the elections, called for continuous prayers for peaceful elections in the country.
Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State and Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC) Media and Publicity Sub-Committee of its 2022 Special Convention Presidential Primary has submitted the committee’s report.
Sule while submitting the report to the party’s National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu at its national secretariat on Friday in Abuja, also returned N20 million unspent money to the party’s coffers.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the committee’s Secretary, Sen. Bello Mandiya and its other members were present during the report submission.
Presenting an executive summary of the report, Sule said the committee was given N140 million for its activities, but only expended N120 million.
“Initially, we were given N30 million a day after our inauguration, thereafter, we got another N60 million.
In all, the party gave us N140 million.
“I am here with a draft of N20 million to present to the chairman of our party as the balance remaining from what we were given, because we did not spend everything,” Sule said.
Adamu in his remarks, said the level of integrity and commitment exhibited by the committee was appreciated.
He said the committee did a good job and was transparent and accountable to the extent of declaring some surplus which was a good example.
“The challenges were high, but you were able to deploy publicity to defuse tension and we were able to have a good convention.
“Not a single incident was reported and it was all because of the role your committee played by ensuring that everybody was carried along,” Adamu said.
The Federal Capital Territory Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, has pledged to work assiduously towards ensuring victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels in the forthcoming 2023 General Elections.
The Coordinator, Satellite Towns Development Department of FCT, Mr Obinna Ogwuegbu, in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, said the minister gave the assurance at the inauguration of the North Central Youth Campaign Council of APC.
She said that the campaign council under her leadership would work daily to mobilise support for APC across the nooks and crannies of the North Central and beyond.
This, Aliyu said, was with a view to consolidating the successes of the party in 2023. Aliyu assured, ” APC is the party of the Nigerian people, for the Nigerian people and to the Nigerian people.

Earlier, the National Chairman of APC, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, urged Aliyu to deploy her wealth of experience ,political sagacity, motherly and conciliatory disposition to drive activities of the council towards a total consolidation of the party’s strength in the zone.
Adamu, who extolled the sterling and pragmatic qualities of the minister whom he described as his daughter, urged her to be unrelenting in her drive to improve service delivery in the FCT.
This, according to him, will further endear the party to the residents of the FCT.
” And as you further wear another hat as Chairman of the North Central Youth Campaign Council, you should continue and sustain your doggedness in your patriotic quests,”he urged.
The minister attended the event in company of FCT Mandate Secretaries ,Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Senior Aides, Associates, supporters.

The Asiwaju Group (TAG) and APC, South Korea chapters on Tuesday, said that with Gov. Simon Lalong and Mr Festus Keyamo as the party’s Presidential Campaign Director General and Spokesperson, APC’s victory in 2023 is assured.
Recall that the APC on Thursday, announced the choice of Lalong, the Plateau governor and Keyamo (SAN) the Minister of State for Labour and Employment as DG and spokesperson of its presidential campaign organisation respectively.

President Muhammadu Buhari, in the course of the week, directed the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to produce more solar cells to boost the alternative power sources in the country.

According to him, the Federal Government has embarked on several reforms aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s energy sector aimed at improving energy access to communities across the country.

Earlier in the week, the president received Letters of Credence of Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Amb. James Christoff and Ambassador of Mexico to Nigeria, Juan Oritz, on Tuesday in Abuja.
At the event, Buhari commended collective efforts of nations towards tackling security challenges across the globe, and within Nigeria, urging more collaboration to check terrorism, banditry and insurgency.
The Nigerian leader told the diplomats that successes in taming insecurity had been recorded through collaboration across borders, and more could be achieved.
President Buhari, on Aug. 3, administered the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office on three new Permanent Secretaries of the Federal Civil Service.
NAN reports that the Permanent Secretaries include Lydia Jafiya from Adamawa; Udom Okokon Ekenam from Akwa Ibom and Farouk Yabo from Sokoto State.
The president performed the ceremony shortly before the commencement of the weekly virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), at the Council Chambers of the presidential villa, Abuja.
The FEC meeting approved 2.59 billion dollars for the development of Badagry Deep Seaport in Lagos State.
The council also approved N2.6 billion for the procurement of utility vehicles and gadgets for security agencies operating in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu presented the newly appointed Director-General of the party’s Presidential Campaign Organisation, Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau to President Buhari.
The presentation was made at the State House Abuja on Thursday.

Also during the week under review, President Buhari joined the entertainment industry, particularly artistes and musicians, in commiserating with ace instrumentalist, singer and song writer, Bongos Ikwue, who lost his wife, Josephine Ifeyinwa, 73. He also joined family, friends and associates in mourning the death of former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mustapha Balogun.
President Buhari had sent condolences to family, friends and associates of Prof. Akin Mabogunje, who passed on at 90. Buhari declared that Mabogunje’s “departure will be greatly felt by the nation, especially the academia”.
President Buhari also condoled with former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, over the demise of his elder sister, Mrs Maryamu Dimka, who died on Wednesday.
Maryamu was the wife of Late Commissioner of Police, Mr S.
K. Dimka, and survived by children including Mrs Elizabeth Rimdans, one time Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra and Bauchi State.

It would be recalled that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Tinubu, and APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu unveiled Gov. Lalong on Thursday in Abuja.
Dadu’ut in a statement on Friday in Jos, said that the emergence of Lalong was well deserved considering his contributions to the party.
“I have no doubt in your capacity to deliver on the mandate to ensure that APC wins the election.
“With God on your side, you shall prove your doubters wrong and deliver on this responsibility of leading our party to victory at the polls.
”The senator promised to assist Lalong in any way possible to ensure that the APC emerged victorious.
