216 students bag First-Class degrees at Covenant University

Covenant University Vice Chancellor Ota, Ogun Prof. Abiodun Adebayo said 216 students achieved first class honors in the 2020/2021 academic session.

Adebayo said this in Ota on Friday during the institution’s 16th graduation ceremony, doctoral graduation and awards ceremony.

According to him, 1,681 students graduated for the 2020/2021 academic session.

This included 216 students who did first class honors; top honors of 719 seconds; 435 seconds lower class; third class 30 and 281 postgraduate students.

The vice-chancellor added that the institution is working to obtain accreditation for all of its programs.

Adebayo said leadership has been a major challenge for Africa, adding that the institution is working diligently to equip its graduates with the potential required to come up with solutions to these problems.

“Alliance University’s mission is to restore the dignity of the black race which is achievable through quality research,” he said.

He congratulated the parents on the milestone for their children and for the realization of the vision.

Adebayo advised graduate students to let their difficulties turn into opportunities for success.

Earlier, the institution’s chancellor, Dr David Oyedepo, stressed the need for graduates to be determined to live meaningful and impactful lives.

Oyedepo urged them to approach life with a contributor mentality and they would make the most of it.

“Go on and add value to your world by having positive thinking and a commitment to contribute to life, which makes men a woman of achievement,” he said.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) also reports that Asaka Ewerechukwu, graduate in Computer and Information Science, College of Sciences, became the top graduate student, with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 5.00.
