Chief Nwabali Godspower Onyekamu and Mrs. Grace Nwabali (née Mmai) don waka come meet their ancestors. The boy don show for Instagram with plenty emotion say, ‘About time to put my dad and mom to rest. Something I never imagined doing so soon at this point of my life.’ E really dey pain am, and we fit feel am.
Nwabali no just dey face regular wahala; him dey battle with the grief wey come as him parents go join the silent crowd. He add, ‘It’s a different kind of pain I never wish for my enemy. Thank you for everything.’ Na real talk be that, no be lie!
The burial go happen for three days, wey begin on Thursday, June 5, 2025. The first event na Service of Songs wey go start for 5pm at the late Chief’s residence for Osafu Lane, Okwuzi Egbema, Rivers State. This na for people wey wan come jolly but still dey reflect on di life of dem parents.
The next day, Friday, June 6, dem go carry the body of Late Mrs. Grace Nwabali from Gbegbe Hospital Mortuary, Omoku. Dem go move am to her papa compound, before dem carry am go her husband’s house, where she go dey lie in state from 11am. As e dey happen, see wahala for another day, na Saturday, June 7 be di final burial rites.
On Saturday morning, at 9am, dem go carry Chief Nwabali Godpower remains from Gbegbe Hospital Mortuary to him maternal home. By 10am, the Okwuzi Council of Chiefs go receive di body. After all the grand wahala, at 11am, dem go put am for lying in state before the internment at 12 noon. Make una no worry, there go still dey reception and entertainment for guests later for CPS Okwuzi Egbema. Na big family occasion be dis, sadness no go fit overshadow the celebrations.
Chief Nwabali don waka at di age of 72, while him sweet wife Mrs. Grace Nwabali, don enter di other side at 63. Di family don show gratitude to everyone wey dey support dem during this tough time and don invite friends and loved ones to join dem honour dem parents on June 6 and 7.
