Last Sunday for Channels Television, human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, don expose wetin dey happen for Nigerian politics. E talk say all the opposition parties wey dey Nigeria, apart from him own African Action Congress (AAC), na under the control of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Na wah!
Sowore wey dey always dey drop hot takes for public, share his thoughts on the popular talk show Rubbin’ Minds. E claim say, many of the opposition parties na just ‘feeders’ or ‘special purpose vehicles’ wey APC use for their agenda. (Me I think say dem go just gift dem small money to make dem quiet, you know how e be na.)
According to Sowore, dem don create plenty of these smaller parties purposely to fit APC own goal. E go talk say, “What we found out in our little research is that most of the parties that are left, apart from AAC, are parties that were created by the major parties.” Talk about political wizardry!
He no stop for there oh! E also claim say, APC dey fund these parties during election season. E say dem do am so that when elections don happen, all these parties fit come carry legal challenges wey dey favor APC. E explain say, “Sometimes, some of the candidates or the parties are meant to help them with legal challenge.” E get as e be, abi no be like movie?
Sowore sharp na, e talk say the moment any party wey win election call the smaller parties, everybody go just settle and scatter dem money. Dem carry dem own share of the ‘booty’. Each person dey waka dey happy. (No be so dem dey run politics for our side, abi?)
He no just complain about the parties dem, but he carry secure mind talk say plenty of opposition parties no dey behave like opposition anymore. E talk say, “The people that oppose us the most when we go to meetings are these other smaller parties that you think are in the opposition.” Chai! Which kin wahala be this?
Wetin be the fate of dem bigger opposition parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party? Sowore say Labour Party na the worst of them all. He claim say plenty members of LP don dey jump ship join APC because dem no really dey oppose APC since. E even categorize LP as a ‘short rental’ quotation.
“Most of them that went to Labour Party saw an opportunity. They walked in there, grabbed power, and then the moment they had the booty bag, they went back to where they’re coming from,” Sowore declare. Make we no lie, politics for Nigeria no dey carry last! (Na we go still dey look for correct politician wey go show us road.)
