Sowore Don Dey Chook Eye for Protest, Police Don Warn

Abuja, Nigeria – Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, don make hin mind clear say e no go take any nonsense as e dey prepare for the planned #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest wey go happen for Monday, October 20, 2025. This protest na to demand make dem release Nnamdi Kanu, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader wey don dey inside custody since dem carry am come back from Kenya for 2021.

As e dey talk for im post for X, Sowore, wey dey represent the African Action Congress (AAC) during the 2023 elections, don gather plenti lawyers, 115 to be precise. E sure say anytime dem serve dem court order, dem go challenge am sharply. E no wan hear any wahala. “Nothing fit stop this mass movement. We go dey march peacefully, lawfully, and powerfully,” he yan, as e dey hype hin supporters (e fit just be where dem gather power like WWE).

Meanwhile, na from the Nigeria Police Force dem winch-winch come drop warning say all protest groups need to obey dat court order wey don dey restrict gatherings around sensitive government areas like Aso Rock Villa, National Assembly, and others. Dem still dey remind us say last Friday, Justice M. Umar for the Federal High Court don already give dat order as part of the case wey involve Sowore and four other persons.

In one serious statement wey police PRO, Benjamin Hundeyin talk, e yarn say dem respect citizens’ right to gather but dem must also obey the law while dem dey do am (chai, dem dey respect right but e fit get condition like marriage proposal). He talked say dem go make sure say public peace no go shake and anybody wey dey break the law fit face serious consequences.

Sowore no gree keep quiet o! E don accuse the police say dem dey apply double standards when e come to protest rights across the country. “I dey happy say dem don finally show small respect for our right to gather peacefully,” Sowore reason am. But as e dey question dem, im ask why dem no go get similar court order against other groups wey dey protest against Nnamdi Kanu’s release for days. E call am “glaring hypocrisy” and “undeniable double standards” (e be like say dem fit hold meeting for higher level).

Hundeyin still talk say Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police don give order make FCT Commissioner of Police make sure sey dem enforce the court order tight tight, and dem go deploy officers wey go dey visible around sensitive areas (no be today dem dey do this show). Dem still warn against any confrontations by protesters or counter-protesters wey fit turn am to wahala, as dem assure residents say dem go provide adequate security during this wahala period.

As the countdown dey continue to the protest, na wetin go happen we go still dey watch am like Naija movie. Who go win? Police or Sowore? E go be interesting show! (This one fit pass Big Brother Naija). E no go sweet pass to see how all dis drama go play out for Abuja.
