South Africa is hosting the World Media and Information Literacy Week thematic conference this year, becoming the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to do so. The annual World Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week, launched in 2011, is led by UNESCO in cooperation with the UNESCO MIL Alliance, the UNESCO-UNAOC MIL University Network and Intercultural Dialogue (MILID ) and other partners. UNESCO’s Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) week has continued each year and has grown year by year with notoriety and participation.
