Sony Buys Rights to Comedy Film My Ex-Friend’s Wedding
Sony Pictures has acquired global rights to the upcoming comedy film My Ex-Friend’s Wedding, beating out several competitors.

The movie will be directed by Kay Cannon, who previously directed Blockers, and stars Ariana DeBose, Chloe Fineman, Megan Stalter, and Amanda Seyfried.

The movie was written by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Ashley Rodger, with revisions by Cannon.

Sister, a film production company, purchased the film’s spec script from Circle of Confusion, a production and management company.
The movie’s producers will include Stacey Snider, Brad Mendelsohn, Katie Abbott, Cannon, Laverne McKinnon, Rodger, and Reid. Sony Pictures’ SVP Development and Production, Elizabeth Grave, will oversee the project.
The deal was negotiated by Virginia Longmuir on behalf of Sony’s Stage 6 Films, with assistance from FilmNation Entertainment and WME Independent.
Variety was the first to report on the news.
