Six Nigerian States Withdraw Supreme Court Petition Against Presidential Election Results
Six Nigerian states led by the opposition have withdrawn their petition to invalidate the results of the presidential election held last weekend in Nigeria.

The states, represented by their attorneys general, did not state any reasons for their decision.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi, who lost in the presidential race, obtained a court order to gain access to electoral materials used during the election.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party candidate, Bola Tinubu, was declared the winner of the election, but the main opposition challengers Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi accused the result of being fraudulent, and vowed to challenge it in court.
Election observers from various external bodies reported various irregularities during the voting and counting of votes, but didn’t report fraud.
Nigeria generally handles election challenges at the Appeals Court that sits as a tribunal; however, previous legal challenges to Nigerian presidential elections have not succeeded.
Obi still has three weeks to file a petition with the court under the 2022 electoral act.
