Lagos, Nigeria – If you think your last-minute rush to the airport is drama, you never see anything like this! Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former Edo State governor and current senator for Edo North, decided to give us a show on June 11, 2025, by blocking the entrance of the Zulu Terminal at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos because he was late for his flight.
Oshiomhole, who was supposed to jump into an early morning Air Peace flight to Abuja scheduled for 6:30 a.m., showed up at the terminal just past the time his flight should have been taking off. You know say time no be friend, but this one pass friendship! Instead of accepting he missed the flight, he decided to turn the terminal into a scene from a Nollywood movie.
Sources say the senator refused to budge from the entrance, blocking everybody like he was playing football. The terminal manager even tried begging, but Oshiomhole carry pride and no gree! It was like watching a stubborn child who won’t leave the toy store unless they get what they want. Eyewitnesses say his refusal left many passengers stranded and caused serious wahala!
After several failed attempts to resolve the situation, they had to call the regional manager to come and appeal to the mighty senator. Like seriously, how did we get to the point where airport management has to beg a senator to let people travel?
A video that went viral captured the scene of Oshiomhole arguing with airport officials like say dem no dey perform their job. Air Peace, the airline in question, made it clear that they won’t accommodate Oshiomhole’s late arrival. “He missed the flight, that’s just the way e be,” one insider said. “Everybody sabi say time get no wahala for anybody.”
But the drama didn’t stop there. While the senator was forming troubles, he claimed the airline delayed his flight for over five hours before finally canceling it. According to him, he checked in online but arrived late and was denied boarding. He was watching like a movie as people who came after him were boarding smoothly. Na wah!
He was not alone in his pain, as he recounted the tale of a woman with a baby who also faced rejection at the terminal gate, even though she arrived early. Oshiomhole heatedly shared how people were being denied boarding just to sell those same seats for higher prices to other passengers. E be like say air travel no get rules anymore! He even sent the woman ₦500,000 to help her out.
As anger boiled over, passengers were cheering Oshiomhole, like he was their local champion fighting against the system, but na real small wahala for their side. Eventually, management had to convene another meeting just to calm the stormy waters and allow flights to resume. Abuja go wait for you, o! No be you alone dey fly!
Despite attempts by SaharaReporters to reach the appropriate authorities for comments, nobody gree to pick their calls. Oshiomhole’s camp made a side of the story known too, showing say he too dey vex. “They denied me boarding just like that!” he shouted. Meanwhile, Ijeoma Blessing Nwosu-Igbo, the General Manager for Public Affairs at FAAN, said she no get idea about any drama, as she’s not in charge of MM2 (the other terminal).
In the end, the whole saga just shows how sometimes, even big men fit get small pettiness. Oshiomhole was seen forming good guy on social media after the incident, claiming he stood for the rights of passengers. But my people, you know say sometimes no be who shout loudest dey right, but na who get small sense. Make we dey follow this story, e never finish!
