Sen. Buhari urges stakeholder collaboration to tackle insecurity

Senator Abdulfatai Buhari (APCOyo North) called for the collaboration of stakeholders to tackle the wave of insecurity in the state.

Buhari, who made the appeal Wednesday in Ibadan, in a meeting with the founder and chairman of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Mr. Sunday Olajidde, said it was important for critical stakeholders to think about solutions to the problem. worsening of the security challenge in the state.

Buhari, chairman of the Senate Land Transport Committee, said meaningful development would not be possible amid insecurity.

“We all need to make sure that further attacks on the population are not recorded in the state, we need to restore normalcy.

“We all know that the Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa regions of the state have made headlines about attacks on residents by gunmen. We cannot continue to live this way, we have to work together to end this challenge, ”he said.

He also denounced the recent invasion and attack on the Igangan community which resulted in loss of life and property.

“What we are seeing is the demonstration of a lack of patriotism on the part of some citizens, no reasonable and patriotic Nigerian will engage in unnecessary attacks on others.

In his response, Olajide called the senator’s visit well intentioned, saying: “it shows that you are a leader who understands the challenge of the people”.

He said the VGN has made significant commitments to address the security challenges in the country.

“VGN is a non-partisan, non-governmental, non-tribal organization, we are registered to provide auxiliary security services in the country.

“Despite the challenges we face, we have continued to do our best, we will not stop doing our best too.

“We are always available to work with the police in the fight against crime and violence in the country,” he said.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that the senator presented two motorcycles and an undisclosed sum of money to the VGN, at the end of the meeting. (NAA)
