Ikenne, Ogun State — Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede don talk how him team win di Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title after dem beat Niger Tornadoes 1-0 on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Na dis victory give dem di chance to hold onto di title with a ten-point lead ahead of second-place Rivers United.
Ogunmodede express him gratitude for di achievement, wey him describe as di product of perseverance and dedication. “This na reward for hard work, patience and perseverance. We’ve been grinding for years, and I dey glad say e don come at di right time,” he talk during interview with Eagle 7 Sports Radio.
Di coach also address di topic of pressure, saying, “I no feel any pressure. Di only pressure I feel na to improve myself every day, not fear of failure.” Ogunmodede give credit to di collective effort of everybody wey dey involved for di club.
“Na team sport. Everybody role dey important. Our president invest well and show patience, di management do well, my assistants and backroom staff work tire, di players give their all, and di fans stand by us. Na full team effort,” he add.
Ogunmodede also appreciate di local community, saying di title mean a lot to di people of Ikenne and Ogun State. “Dem deserve to share in dis pride,” he state. “Our victory no be just for us, but for all di people wey support us throughout dis journey.”
After winning di title, Ogunmodede maintain humble stance on possible continental competitions. “I no wan talk about di continent now. We get three matches left to complete di league, and dat na my focus,” he say, bin respond to question about CAF tournaments.
When dem ask am about fellow NPFL teams fit represent Nigeria in di continent, Ogunmodede remain focused on him squad. “I dey focus on my team. Rivers United, Abia Warriors, Katsina United, and Enyimba dey in di mix, but I no don analyze di possibilities yet,” him talk.
Di coach also express surprise and gratitude to Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, wey don donate N10 million to Remo Stars squad and staff as mark of appreciation for their hard work. “I dey surprised. For person of him level to take time out and motivate di players financially na big thing,” Ogunmodede stated.
As di NPFL season dey come to an end, Ogunmodede and him champions don travel to Maiduguri on Wednesday for matchday 35 against El Kanemi Warriors.
