Regional council presidents pledge loyalty to FCTA and NASS

By Salisu Sani-Idris

The six presidents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) regional councils and the leadership of the Regional Council Services Secretariat pledged their loyalty to the administration of the CTF and the representatives of the CTF in the National Assembly.

Abuja City Council (AMAC) Chairman Abdullah Candido made this known in a joint statement he signed on behalf of the council chairmen on Wednesday in Abuja.

Candido debunked media claims accusing council authorities of making decisions and implementing policies in total disregard of higher authorities.

“We are not only loyal to the CTF Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, but also to our esteemed representatives in the National Assembly.

“As heads of regional councils, we cannot work in a vacuum if we are to deliver dividends of democracy to our residents.

“The media report that the presidents of the regional councils make decisions without resorting to the office of the minister of state, which oversees the activities of the councils and other auxiliary matters, or to the representatives of the CTF in the National Assembly who supervise the FCTA is false “, did he declare. mentionned.

He called the allegations evil and a deliberate attempt to pit regional council presidents against the office of the FCT minister of state and representatives in the National Assembly.

Candido said troublemakers and political detractors are determined to ensure they sow the seeds of contention between the minister of state’s office and council presidents.

He condemned an individual’s desperate attempt to sow discord between the minister of state and the council chairmen and “must not be allowed to stay”.

According to him, the presidents of the regional councils will not take for granted the maternal love of the Minister of State.

“We are very loyal to him and we have never had him so well until he came. Therefore, no one should disturb this peace,

“We call on our people to ignore the malicious publication aimed at overheating the system.

“We will not be deterred from fulfilling our constitutional mandates of ensuring the well-being and security of our people,” Candido said.

In addition, Ms. Omolola Olanipekun, Acting Secretary of the CTF Regional Council Services Secretariat, discredited the report, saying that the regional council and the secretariat have a harmonious relationship in the conduct of policies of the CTF administration.

“To set the record straight, allow me to state categorically here that we maintain harmonious relations with the six regional councils of the territory.

“We advise them to kindly carry out their individual background checks of the activities of these revered bodies with the competent supervision of the Minister of State,” she added. (NAA)
