Recovered Assets: FG opens bid for Auctioneers

The Federal Government‘s Interdepartmental Committee on the Disposal of Forfeited Assets opened the tender to select auctioneers to dispose of the recovered assets.

Committee Chairman and Federation Solicitor General Dayo Apata SAN, who declared the bidding process open in Abuja, said the idea is part of the government’s efforts to raise funds to meet its obligations. .

“The assets were either recovered or confiscated by suspects accused of corruption.

“Assets recovered include vehicles, boats, ships, factories and machinery as well as electronics and furniture.

The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) recalls that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, inaugurated on November 9, 2020 the interministerial committee on the disposal of confiscated assets of the federal government.

He said the composition of the committee was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari on October 27, 2020.

The 22-member committee according to AGF had six months to hand over all confiscated assets to the federal government. (NAA)
