Al-Qalam University reacts to bomb blast rumour, says it’s act of mischief-makers

The management of Al-Qalam University in Katsina has debunked the rumor of a bomb blast on its campus on Friday.
NIGERIAN DAILY reports that a rumor was circulating on Friday that there was a bomb blast at the university on Friday night.
However, in a quick reaction, the university management dispelled the rumor, saying that it is an act of malefactors.



A statement from Akilu Atiku, a spokesman for the institution, explained that the thunderous sound that was heard at that time was due to the explosion of a tire of a vehicle moving on the Dutsinma highway.
Therefore, the management described the rumor as unfortunate, unfounded, false and misleading.
“The attention of Al-Qalam University in Katsina has been focused on a story that is trending on social media about an alleged bomb explosion at the University on Friday, January 21, 2022.
“The University wishes to dispel the story as unfortunate, unfounded, false and misleading.
“What happened was that the wheel of a truck moving along Dutsinma Road broke at around 8:30 pm, but the miscreants took advantage of the incident to spread the rumor about a bomb exploding inside the University.” says the statement in parts.

According to the statement, an investigation has since been launched in order to discover the source of the false information.
