PSG player Achraf Hakimi Charged with Rape
Paris Saint-Germain defender and Moroccan international, Achraf Hakimi, has been charged with rape, as confirmed by French prosecutors.
The 24-year-old player faces accusations of paying for the 24-year-old woman to travel to his home in the Paris suburbs while his family was away.
The accuser went to the police station on Sunday and was questioned by prosecutors on Wednesday.
While his club made no comment, Hakimi’s lawyer said the accusations were false.
Under French law, being charged does not necessarily mean the case will go to trial.
It remains to be seen if Hakimi will play in upcoming matches but he is permitted to leave French soil despite the charge against him.
Hakimi established himself as an integral part of the PSG team and was named to the FIFPro men’s world team of the year at the FIFA awards ceremony last Monday.
