Presidential Election Petition Court Grants INEC Request to Reconfigure BVAS
The Presidential Election Petition Court at the Court of Appeal in Abuja has granted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) permission to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) used during the presidential election.

The court found that preventing INEC from reconfiguring the system would negatively impact the forthcoming governorship and state assembly elections.

Objections by the Labour Party and its candidate, Peter Obi, against the request were dismissed, with the court describing it as an abuse of process.

The court ordered INEC to allow applicants to inspect and carry out digital forensic examination of all electoral materials used in the election as well as providing the Certified True Copy of the inspection of the BVAS.
While opposing the application, INEC said granting the request would affect its preparations for the upcoming governorship and state assembly elections.
