President Buhari receives Governor Yahaya Bello in Daura

By Lizzy Okoji

President Muhammadu Buhari received Governor Yahaya Bello and his senior cabinet members on Thursday evening when they paid tribute to him in Sallah at his country house in Daura, Kastina.

It was then that Governor Yahaya Bello praised President Buhari for his nation-building efforts and for giving young Nigerians the opportunity to participate in governance.

A statement issued to the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) in Abuja on Friday said Buhari was delighted to receive the governor and his team.

The statement quotes Mr. Ahmed Bolori, the governor’s special assistant for public relations, as saying that Bello then visited the palace of the emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq, who praised Bello for his leadership and achievements.

Bolori also cited Faruq as praising Bello’s style of governance and the governor’s courage in fighting criminals in Kogi.

“Coming to Daura with your senior government officials to pay homage to Sallah to the president says a lot about your love for him and for us in Daura. Only a sincere lover visits, not an enemy.

“Gov. Yahaya Bello is a son of this palace and the ardent and unwavering support of our president. This palace is your home and my doors are open to you at all times.

“I must applaud your ruthlessness and dedication in eliminating crooks and crimes in Kogi State.

“We are all aware of the insecurity in Kogi State before you took office and what it is today.

Continue to support the fight against criminals in your state.

“In tackling crime in all its forms, you have set a high standard for all leaders at the state level to follow.

“You have always been close to us for fatherly blessings. We will continue to pray for you and bless you for God’s greatest plans for this country, hopefully through you.

The emir also praised the governor for including young people and women in governance, saying age is just a number if it is not accompanied by capacity.

He said the governor and members of his cabinet, who are mostly young people, have shown unprecedented ability.

“What many young people like you and those I see in your administration are capable of is unprecedented. It is all a question of ability and not of age.

It is ability and not age that matters and benefits others, ”said the royal father. Earlier, the governor explained that he was in Daura to pay tribute to the president.

Bello noted that his trip would have been incomplete without extending it to the Emir’s Palace, which he described as a worthy royal father. He thanked Buhari for showing outstanding leadership in leading the ruling All Progressives State and Congress ship. (NAA)
