Police rescue abducted UniAbuja lecturers

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command, FCT, said it had rescued all victims abducted from Abuja University and reunited with their families through a joint operation with other security agencies.

Police command spokesperson Joséphine Adeh confirmed this development in a statement released in Abuja on Friday.

Recall that some armed criminals had invaded the quarters of university staff located in the Giri community of the FCT in the early hours of Tuesday.

The thugs, numbering more than 20, are said to have entered the premises of university staff and have moved away from their victims.

Earlier, the University Academic Staff Union, ASUU, a branch of the University of Abuja, on Thursday called on the federal government and security agencies to immediately rescue and release all abducted university members and staff. .

Section president Dr Kasim Umar, who expressed concern about the insecurity situation, called for strict and urgent measures to ensure the safety of the community.

According to him, the senior staff quarters were built by the administration of President Shehu Shagari as a police barracks when the university was established in 1988 and later converted into temporary accommodation for the founding members of the university staff. .
