Police recover stolen SUV and AK 47 rifle in Delta

Delta Police Command on Saturday recovered a stolen SUV car and an AK 47 rifle from suspected criminals in two separate operations around the state.

Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Delta Command, DSP Edafe Bright, disclosed in a statement to Warri.

Bright said the SUV was recovered on July 23 by the police response team attached to Ebrumede Division near Warri.

“On July 23 at around 4:00 p.m., DPO, Ebrumede Division, SP Bolarinwa Alabi, while conducting a check and search with an elite team attached to the Division at one of the black spots near the roundabout DSC, Warri, signaled to get out of a vehicle for check, but the driver refused to stop and instead took off.

“The DPO quickly led the elite team and attacked the vehicle.

“The occupants of the vehicle, realizing that the police were not giving in, abandoned the Toyota RAV4 Jeep registered in Lagos EPE 949 FF and fled,” he said.

Bright said a master key was recovered from the vehicle.

He added that the investigation later revealed that the Jeep was stolen from where it was parked on July 23.

Bright said police have started a manhunt for the fleeing criminals.

He added that the DPO, Division Sapele, CSP Harrison Nwabuisi, led an elite team attached to the Division to recover AK47 from a suspect in the Ugbeyiyi area of ​​Sapele.

“On July 23 at around 9:30 pm, the DPO Sapele division received a distress call from someone in the 1jhUgbeyiyi area of ​​Sapele and immediately led the elite team attached to the division to the area.

“The suspect, who wrapped an object in a kaftan robe, upon seeing it, the police fled, but was chased into a nearby bush where he dropped the wrapped object and escaped.

“When the wrapped object was discovered, an AK 47 rifle with a live bullet was recovered.

“The rifle bearing the breach number 06957 was without a magazine but had already been plugged. The ammunition was in the chamber, ”Bright said. (NAN) ()
