People for New Delhi don gather for India Gate wey be one big monument to yarn say ‘make we get clean air!’ This protest no be small matter o, as crowd wey dey chock everywhere raise banner dey shout mantra for fresh air.
On Sunday, November 9, 2025, the air quality index for the city don reach 350, which mean say the air don turn ‘very poor’ according to the Central Pollution Control Board. Na by Monday morning, e don even step up to more than 400 in some areas, wey be ‘severe.’ Imagine smog strong pass your mother-in-law when dem dey quarrel!
As people dey chant slogans like ‘Breathing is killing us,’ police no fit waste time. Dem start to drag protesters away like dem dey pick trash, putting dem for bus before ya know am, some don dey talk say dem wan arrest people wey just dey ask for fresh air (abeg, wetin be dis wahala?!)
Rahul Gandhi, the big man for opposition wey be leader of Congress party, don jump enter the matter. He dey complain, say ‘the right to clean air na basic human right.’ Na worldwide, na only for India we dey observe the way them dey carry protest matter like say na crime.
The air for Delhi no dey only bad; e dey join hand with respiratory illness and dey contribute to people wey dey waka go meet their maker every year. This pollution wahala no be today; e don dey happen since wey temperature dey fall. Farmers dey burn their crops, and all the bad air dey come sha, mixing with smoke from motor and factories, like bad stew.
The government dey try hold back pollution with plans wey no fit hold. Them introduce some laws like restricting construction and diesel generators, but na woeful effort as e no really change anything. Last month, dem try use chemical to make rain come down – for which did no work (how many miracle we go fit expect for this life?).
People don tire to dey inhale air wey go make them cough like say dem dey smoke Igbo. As the cold season dey come, maybe full-time we fit declare clean air na luxury. Dey wey sabi, dem dey spray water on air quality monitors just to make it appear better – na who dem wan deceive? Maybe if dem fit cover the whole city with clouds things go better.

One protester wey talk wey she no wan give her full name, neva stop to comment say the whole wahala don too much, she wear mask, na so e be for dem.
