Police deny ISWAP abduction of mobile policemen in Borno

The police command in Borno has denied reports that some policemen were abducted by the Islamic State in the West African province, ISWAP at the Mobile Police Training School in limankara, Gwoza Local Government Area, LGA, of the state .

Audu Umar, the state Police Commissioner revealed this when he spoke to the Nigerian News Agency on Friday in Maiduguri.

Mr. Umar said that the report that an unspecified number of policemen were abducted from the school was false news.

Some reports had indicated that ISWAP fighters kidnapped an unspecified number of police officers after an attack on the school around 8:22 a.m. on Thursday.

But Mr. Umar said that no police officers were kidnapped during the incident and said that the 13 policemen at the school were safe and in good condition while they successfully thwarted the terrorists’ attack.

He explained that the command did not lose personnel or weapons during the attack.

The police commissioner urged the media to always strive to authenticate their report before feeding the public.
