 Mr Adewole Adebayo the Presidential candidate of Social Democratic Party SDP says funding of tertiary education in Nigeria should be put under the Tertiary Education Fund Tetfund and not government Adebayo made the assertions on Sunday shortly after the inauguration of the party s South West Zonal Office in Ibadan The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the SDP presidential candidate accompanied by other candidates of the party had earlier visited the Olubadan of Ibadan Oba Lekan Balogun in his palace He decried the lingering crisis in the nation s tertiary education saying funding of the sector should be taken away from the government According to him my government if elected will take funding of tertiary education away from the government and place it under Tertiary Education Fund Tetfund We will expand Tetfund and ensure it is managed by independent trustees who are not partisan politicians he said Adebayo said that the country was currently battling so much challenges ranging from insecurity economic sabotage budget mismanagement disunity high unemployment and high inflation He said that the SDP led administration would bring down inflation to a single digit stop crude oil theft increase foreign reserve ensure stable currency and build confidence of investors The presidential candidate said that the nation s Constitution needed to be respected and improved upon for structural improvement Adebayo said the party was parading credible candidates who were ready to take the country to greater heights like that of 1993 under Chief MKO Abiola He promised to implement the blueprint of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo as contained in the SDP manifesto for the betterment of the people The SDP said that the party would ensure united productive and economically buoyant country if elected Adebayo said that the SDP administration would set up a proper government that knows how to render services by putting the right peg in the right holes He said that the SDP led government would bid farewell to poverty and ensure economic buoyancy massive infrastructure quality education and improved security Commenting Mulikat Akande Adeola the SDP Senatorial candidate for Oyo North said the party was parading credible candidates who have interest of the masses at heart Akande Adeola a former Majority Leader in the House of Representatives assured the people of Oyo State of the party s commitment to positively turn things around in the country Also Chief Michael Lana the Governorship candidate of SDP in the state told newsmen that inauguration of the party Secretariat was to show that the party was organised and ready for governance Lana said the people would soon know that SDP is a party to beat as soon as campaign commenced officially NAN reports that the event was attended by a former Senator of Anambra South Ugochukwu Uba the State SDP Chairman Mr Michael Okunlade among other party chieftains NewsSourceCredit NAN

17 Also, Chief Michael Lana, the Governorship candidate of SDP in the state, told newsmen that inauguration of the party Secretariat was to show that the party was organised and ready for governance.

18 Lana said the people would soon know that “SDP is a party to beat as soon as campaign commenced officially”.

19 NAN reports that the event was attended by a former Senator of Anambra South, Ugochukwu Uba, the State SDP Chairman, Mr Michael Okunlade, among other party chieftains.
