Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City Host Burnley in the FA Cup Quarter-Finals
The Visitors
Manchester City faces Burnley in the quarter-final of the FA Cup on Saturday, March 18th at 17:45 (UK time). Burnley comes into the game as the runaway leaders in the Championship, and is managed by former City captain Vincent Kompany. Kompany spent 11 trophy-laden years at the Club between 2008 and 2019.

Kompany’s Legacy at Manchester City
Kompany was a part of the team that won the FA Cup in 2011, which was City’s first major trophy in 35 years. He also led the team to an historic Premier League triumph as captain the following year. Kompany went on to win a further ten domestic honours at City before moving back to his native Belgium to become player-coach at his first club, Anderlecht.

All Pleasantries Will be Put to One Side
As such, he is sure to receive a hero’s welcome when he returns to the Etihad stadium. However, once the match starts, all pleasantries will be put to one side. With the reward for victory being a place in the semi-finals, there is plenty at stake between two of English football’s in-form sides.

The Importance of the Game
City enters the tie on the back of five straight wins in all competitions, as they aim to reach Wembley for a fifth-successive season. Burnley is yet to taste defeat in 2023. All of this points towards a thrilling encounter when both teams meet at the Etihad stadium.
