PDP schedules North-West Zonal Congress for February 12

The opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has scheduled its prominent Zonal Congress of its Northwest Zone with the purpose of electing the Zonal Labor and National Trade Commission of the zone for Saturday, February 12.

A statement by the party’s national organizing secretary, Umaru Bature, on Thursday in Abuja, said the decision was part of the resolution of the PDP’s National Labor Committee, NWC, at its meeting on Wednesday.

He said the Northwest Zonal Congress was scheduled to be held at the party’s zonal headquarters in Kaduna state.

“All critical stakeholders and the many members of our great party in the Northwest Zone are informed and guided accordingly,” the party said.

The two contenders for the position of president, both from Kano, are Bello Hayatu Gwarzo and Mohammed Jamu. While the former has the support of some governors in the Northwest, the latter is backed almost exclusively by former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
