ABUJA, Nigeria — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dey prepare to inaugurate its newly appointed members for di Board of Trustees (BoT) on Monday, May 12, 2025, for National Executive Committee Hall, Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5 by 11 a.m. Di announcement come from a circular wey PDP Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, sign and send to media.
Di ceremony dey take place after one report wey show say 85 out of 127 PDP BoT members don dey inactive for party matters since February 9, 2025. Dis inauguration aim to bring fresh energy into di board as dem dey face internal challenges wey dey rise.
As per Section 31(5) of di PDP Constitution (2017 amended), di BoT dey serve as di conscience of di party. Dem dey responsible to maintain high standards of moral integrity, advise on policy decisions, mediate disputes, and protect party assets. Section 32(1) clarify di composition of di BoT, wey include past and present Presidents, Vice Presidents, National Chairmen, and key figures from all regions of di country.
Di current BoT Chairman, former di Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, don lead reconciliation efforts in di face of a crisis, especially concerning di position of National Secretary. However, him efforts dey meet strong resistance from party members who claim say he no get di needed quorum.
On di side, some PDP governors and prominent stakeholders gather for Abuja for a meeting at di Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge on Sunday, discussing di party’s crises and plan to move forward. Di meeting dey involve governors like Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara).
Di meeting dey chaired by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who also be di PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman. Other notable attendees include PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, BoT Secretary, Ahmed Makarfi, and several former governors like Bukola Saraki and Aminu Tambuwal.
