Paul Pogba Dropped For Juventus Europa League Tie for Disciplinary Reasons
French midfielder Paul Pogba has suffered another setback in his pursuit of a revitalized career with Juventus after being excluded from the team’s Europa League match against Freiburg.
The move is reportedly due to disciplinary issues after Pogba was late to a Wednesday team meeting, thus prompting coach Max Allegri to omit him from Thursday’s first leg fixture in Turin.
This is the latest incident in a series of challenges that Pogba has encountered since rejoining Juventus from Manchester United last summer.
Since his return, the Frenchman has only played one game, and his most recent appearance was for United in April 2022, where he suffered a calf injury in a 4-0 defeat at Liverpool.
This injury forced him to miss the remainder of last season.
Pogba then experienced a knee injury during the pre-season break but initially avoided surgery, fearing that it would prevent him from participating in the World Cup. However, he was later forced to undergo surgery, and despite returning to the squad in January, he suffered yet another muscular injury that led to further delays in his return to the field.
Pogba was given a chance to prove himself by coming off the bench in a 4-2 victory over Torino before making his second substitute appearance in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Roma. However, his failure to adhere to team policies has cost him a spot in the Europa League fixture against Freiburg.
Though Pogba still has the potential to make a significant impact on the field, his performance has taken a downturn recently, and his inability to follow team regulations will only exacerbate his predicament.
Only time will tell whether he will be able to overcome these challenges and demonstrate his skills in upcoming matches.
