Oyo CAN seeks God’s intervention on COVID-19, rape, others

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State council, has prayed for God’s intervention to end the spread of COVID-19, incessant rape incidents, kidnapping, terrorism, and attacks by herdsmen in Nigeria.

The association in a special prayer organised to end the 3-day prayer and fasting declared by the National President of CAN on Wednesday, invited ministers of God from various denominations to participate in the event.

Speaking at the event in Ibadan,  the state CAN chairman, Apostle Joshua Akinyemiju said that the solution to the problems posed by COVID-19 was to return to God and ask for His intervention.

“Since all human efforts exploited have failed us, we don’t have any choice than to face the assignment before us today,” Akinyemiju said.

Also speaking, the immediate past chairman of CAN in the state, Pastor Benjamin Akanmu explained the need for powerful prayers in Nigeria at present.

Akanmu called on participants to pray for the military, para-military and other security agencies.

A female pastor, Bolanle Oshifade, prayed for God’s direction for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) officials.

Oshifade prayed God to bestow upon the NCDC officials wisdom, knowledge and understanding to see the solution and reveal it to the medical personnel.

She prayed for protection of God against death, sickness and other attacks against people in the present trying time.

Oshifade also described the blood of Jesus as the greatest and most effective sanitiser, while pleading for the blood to cleanse all stakeholders and the land.

Also, Pastor Victor Olaitan of the Peace Covenant Church, Ibadan, prayed God to heal Nigeria and the rest of the world from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Olaitan asked God to release His mightiness on COVID-19, and prove to the world His supremacy over every situation, since human efforts had proved insufficient.

The clerics prayed against activities of killer – herdsmen, ritual killers, cannibals, terrorists and kidnappers.
